Injured Caitlin Clark Out of WNBA All-Star Weekend. Is It Good News for the Indiana Fever?

    • Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever is the biggest name in the WNBA, but she has had an injury-riddled 2025 season.
    • Clark will not participate in the WNBA All-Star Game, or the 3-Point Contest this weekend in Indianapolis.
    • Washington’s Brittney Sykes will replace Clark in the All-Star Game, while Indiana teammate Lexie Hull will take part for Clark in the 3-Point Contest.

Indiana’s Caitlin Clark brings in big numbers for the WNBA. But the All-Star captain won’t participate in the weekend’s festivities this weekend because of an injured groin.

Washington’s Brittney Sykes will take Clark’s place on her team, while Indiana teammate Lexie Hull will now compete in the 3-Point Contest. But the weekend suffers a blow without Clark.

Clark Has Missed Ten Games This Season Due to Injury

While Clark won’t take part in the weekend’s action, she still showed up at practice to support her Team Clark teammates.

It has been a tough season for Clark, who has now missed ten games this season due to injuries. She has hurt her quad, and both her right and left groin this season. In her 13 games, the former Iowa standout is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds. Clark was the fan vote leader for this All-Star game, and wound up captaining one of the teams, along with Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier.

WNBA All-Star game odds have Team Clark as 5-point underdogs against Team Collier. Clark will be replaced by Washington’s Brittney Sykes, who is averaging 17.1 points, 4.4 assists, and 3.6 rebounds on the season. Indiana teammate Lexie Hull will take Clark’s spot in the 3-Point Contest, shooting 46.8% from beyond the arc.

How Will All-Star Weekend Fare Without Clark?

It is obviously a blow for the WNBA that Clark can’t play this weekend. The game is on the Fever’s home court in Indiana, and last season’s Rookie of the Year was going to be the centerpiece. Clark showed up at practice, and she’ll be in front of the cameras, so she’ll have time to say whatever she wants to say.

More importantly, she gets a little more rest, and that is good for the Fever, who are 12-11 on the season. They did beat Minnesota to win the Commissioner’s Cup on July 1, but the goal is a championship. Indiana is currently fourth in the WNBA championship odds behind New York, Minnesota, and Phoenix.
