A fantasy football team never looks better than it does after the draft. It’s full of stars, breakout candidates and OBVIOUS league-winners. But, even though the team is sitting pretty before Week 1 kickoff, you have to make sure you complete one final, crucial step.

You have to NAME your team!

(I have been told that naming your fantasy football team is neither that important nor that essential, but idc, because it is to me!)

[Join or create a Yahoo Fantasy Football league for the 2025 NFL season]

Yes, I take naming my teams very, very seriously (maybe if I spent less time thinking of team names and more on draft strategy, I’d have more championship rings, but ah well, that’s neither here nor there).

Any time I join a new league, I immediately change my team name to “TBD” (To Be Determined) until draft time. Once I have secured my first-round player, I usually then name my team something related to him, or I find some combination of players to mess around with a name.

But that isn’t the only way to name your team. There are several other routes you can take. Here’s an example: Last season I drafted Breece Hall with the No. 2 pick of my home league’s draft. That virtually sunk my team as Hall failed to live up to his consensus top-five ADP, but my squad as a whole was still competitive.

“Competitive” being the key word there, as I somehow managed to lose a bunch of weeks by minuscule margins, my team seemingly finding new ways to fail against a variety of opponents. Thus, I named my team “The 2024 Cincinnati Bengals.” Lol.

These are just a few of the ways to come up with a name, but again, there are so many ways YOU can approach naming YOUR team.

Here are some suggestions for your 2025 fantasy team name

Below you’ll find some of the most popular, creative and hilarious team names from the Yahoo Fantasy community who’ve already drafted this season.

What will you do with your 30 characters when it’s time to name your team?

    Prestige Worldwide

The 2008 comedy Step Brothers has somehow aged to become one of the best comedies of all time, while also remaining a cult classic. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly’s ridiculous antics throughout the film have produced tons of quotable, meme-able moments. One of the most popular being the duo’s presentation of their entertainment venture, “Prestige Worldwide.”

Prestige Worldwide also happens to be one of the absolute most popular fantasy football team names, year in and year out. If you’ve watched the movie, you’d understand why — Prestige Worldwide is a huge endeavor, one that encompasses various parts of the entertainment and service industries. I, too, would like my fantasy football team to be a wide-reaching, successful business venture.

    Breece’s Pieces

I drafted Breece Hall with the No. 2 pick of my home league last year. I probably don’t need to tell you how that went for my team and I, but suffice it to say, Hall did not live up to his consensus top-five standing last season.

And as much as I love Reese’s Pieces, I can’t help but cringe at how that one pick pretty much blasted my season into … well, tiny pieces.

    Finding Deebo

This might be a triple entendre of a name. First of all, Deebo Samuel Sr., after spending the first six years of his career as a 49er, will be donning a new uniform for the first time, so you’ll be forgiven for wondering what team he’s on (it’s the Commanders, btw). Secondly, the name is a play on the Disney hit Finding Nemo.

And third, Samuel has been in performance decline the past couple of seasons, looking like a shell of his former dual-threat self. So yes, many fantasy managers are hoping they’ll find the real Deebo in 2025.

    Love Thy Nabers

I mean, c’mon — talk about hitting the “name your team after a player” prompt right on the head. Ten-of-ten, no notes.

    Threat Level Midnight

“The Office” will go down as one of the best comedy shows in television history — they also love their fantasy football. Threat Level Midnight is an episode involving a hilariously low-budget film Michael Scott (the iconic main protagonist of “The Office” played by Steve Carell) wrote, directed and starred in.

But as funny as it was, the film is also kind of good, and that’s probably all we want from our fantasy teams.

    McConkey Kong

Let’s end this with another play on names. Ladd McConkey shoved aside any concerns about his size or his ability in a pro offense by becoming the third-best rookie wide receiver in fantasy football (both total points and points per game) last season.

McConkey showed a fearlessness and power in his play last year, absorbing some huge hits all over the field as the primary target for the Chargers. He also delivered some big plays for chunk yardage, displaying a level of athleticism Donkey Kong would be proud of.
