Manchester United Are Keeping Tabs On This Ligue 1 Prospect: One For The Future?

In a recent report, L’Equipe mentioned that Manchester United are keeping tabs on Metz prospect Idrissa Gueye this summer. It has been revealed that the Red Devils would have to rival Borussia Dortmund in pursuit of the Senegalese striker this off-season.

Gueye came through the youth ranks of Generation Foot before he made a switch to Metz at the start of this year. The Senegalese whizkid managed to help the French club secure a promotion back to Ligue 1 last season. He made 20 appearances for Metz in the previous campaign, scoring six times and earning one assist in all competitions.

The 18-year-old is currently among the best young strikers in European football. Therefore, it is no surprise that Man United are hoping to get a deal done for him this summer.

His current contract at the French club will expire in the summer of 2029 which could make it tough for Man United to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Gueye can find some space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He can create the odd chance for others around him on the offensive end of the field.

The Senegalese talent is also quite clever with his movements in and around the opponent’s penalty area. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to adjust to the physical side and high intensity of English football if Man United manage to snap him up in this transfer window.

Gueye is already good enough to serve as a decent, rotational piece in Man United boss Ruben Amorim’s match-day squad. He has what it takes to be a success story at Old Trafford in the long run. However, Amorim has to be patient with his progress before he can get the best out of the gifted youngster at the Mancunian club.

At 18, Gueye has the potential to be a future star in European football. He is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future, so the Red Devils would do well to bring him on board in this transfer period.
