Alyssa Thomas will be a key factory for the Mercury covering the spread as road favorites against the Caitlin Clark-less Fever tonight at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

Photo By – Imagn Images. Mercury star Alyssa Thomas does it all for Phoenix.

The Indiana Fever will once again be without Caitlin Clark as they host a Phoenix Mercury team looking to build momentum off a recent blowout victory over the Washington Mystics.

My Mercury vs. Fever predictions like the visiting team to cover the spread as short road favorites.

Read on to see how my WNBA picks are betting the spread and why I’m targeting props from Alyssa Thomas and Kelsey Mitchell on Wednesday, July 30.

    Mercury vs Fever predictions

My Mercury vs Fever best bet: Mercury -3.5 (-110 at bet365)

The Indiana Fever have been surprisingly competitive despite Caitlin Clark missing 13 games and playing at less than 100% when on the court. Indiana has won two straight and five of seven, going 4-3 against the spread in that span.

Indiana has won five straight and covered in the last four head-to-head matchups with the Phoenix Mercury, but I expect the visitors to get back on track tonight thanks to a clean bill of health across the roster.

Leading scorer Satou Sabally and key contributor Kahleah Copper have both played three straight after missing time due to injury, and they’re trending in the right direction. Alyssa Thomas continues to anchor the team on both ends of the court, stuffing the stat sheet on a nightly basis.

DeWanna Bonner has chipped in 11.5 points and five boards in 25.5 minutes per game across six appearances with the Mercury after forcing her way out of Indiana. She’ll be back at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for the first time since departing.

The Mercury sport the third-best record in the W and sit just a game back of the New York Liberty for the No. 2 seed. With Breanna Stewart out indefinitely, the Liberty are vulnerable, and Phoenix could use this opportunity to string together some wins and climb the standings.

Fresh off a blowout win over the Mystics and finally deploying a healthy lineup, I’m backing the Mercury to win and cover on the road against the Clark-less Fever.

Mercury vs Fever same-game parlay (SGP)

    bet365 Logo

    Mercury -3.5

Alyssa Thomas Over 16.5 assists + rebounds

    Kelsey Mitchell Over 19.5 points

Thomas is doing it all this season, and she’s hit the Over on this combo line in 12 of 20 games, including three straight and seven of 10. She’s averaged 17.7 assists+rebounds on the road and piled up at least 17 in four of her last five road games.

Phoenix has multiple talented scoring options, so instead of taking the points, I’ll take the two certainties with assists and rebounds.

Kelsey Mitchell has been the Fever’s leading scorer this season with and without Clark on the court, but CC’s absence obviously frees up some extra scoring opportunities.

Mitchell posted her 100th career 20-point game when she dropped 35 against the Chicago Sky. She’s now scored at least 20 in three straight and six of seven, reaching that scoring milestone in 14 of 26 games and 8 of 14 at home.
