Adrien Broner has made a startling admission about his finances just hours after promoter Don King confirmed the former four-weight champion will return to the ring on October 4 in Miami.
Broner, who lost his last fight to Blair Cobbs, took to social media with an unfiltered message on his current situation. ‘The Problem’ insists he still wants to fight under King’s banner, but has to start thinking about himself if the money isn’t rolling in.
“I love Don King so much I’m still trying to become world champion under his umbrella, but the way things are going right now, I’ve got to think about myself ’cause he’s already a billionaire and I ain’t got a damn dime.
“I know I can call some of my close friends for money, but my pride is in the way, but this shit is diabolical. Make it make sense.
“Even though I lost my last fight, no disrespect, but that n**** still isn’t a bigger draw than me.”
Broner’s Future with Don King
On his future working with King, Broner added, “I just want to get back in shape and make my own money. I ain’t asking for a handout, but if I have nowhere to stay or no fight date (October 4 is no), I guess I just got to sell drugs to take care of my 10 kids and family.
“MFs said f*** me, so f*** it, call me, I will beat your plug price for great w**d.”

The post comes amid confirmation from King that Broner will appear on the undercard of Kubrat Pulev vs Michael Hunter, without officially naming his opponent.
An Uncertain Fight Date
Broner’s bout at the Jai-Alai Fronton Casino is already in doubt as Hunter is confirmed to face Jarrell Miller in Las Vegas on September 11. Hunter and King are locking horns over whether the fighter is a free agent following King’s $1.1 million purse bid victory.
If Hunter drops off the card, Broner could still headline, potentially against Cobbs in a second fight, as King also confirmed for the show.
King also ratified former cruiserweight champion Noel Mikaelian for the card.
But Broner’s comments paint a bleak picture of his current circumstances, with the Cincinnati native claiming he is weighing desperate measures to support his family.
Whether the upcoming Miami date will help revive his fortunes both financially and competitively remains to be seen. However, the outspoken former champion has made it clear he is ready to take matters into his own hands.
