A bantamweight banger has been added to the
UFC Rio card.
Deiveson
Figueiredo (24-5) will face surging contender Montel
Jackson (15-2) at UFC Rio on Oct. 11 at the Farmasi Arena in
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. ESPN Brasil first reported the matchup. The card is
headlined by a lightweight clash between former champ Charles
Oliveira and Rafael
Fiziev.
Figueiredo Returns After Suffering Knee Injury
Figueiredo moved up to bantamweight after going 1-2-1 in a
flyweight title fight quadrilogy against Brandon
Moreno. The former champ won three straight at 135 pounds
against Rob
Font, Cody
Garbrandt and Marlon Vera
before losing to former champ Petr Yan.
“Deus da Geurra” has since suffered a knee injury loss against
Cory
Sandhagen this past May. Figueiredo will have the home crowd
behind him as he looks to return to the win column.
Meanwhile, Jackson is riding a six-fight winning streak in the Las
Vegas-based promotion. “Quik” is coming off a victory over
previously undefeated Peruvian prospect Daniel
Marcos in his last outing at UFC Des Moines.
