Gavin Williams (SP – CLE) at ARI
Tonight’s pitching options leave something to be desired, enhancing the appeal of saving salary by using the highlighted top picks. Fortunately, Gavin Williams has an appealing salary, and he’s in excellent form. According to FanGraphs, Williams has had the following statistics in his previous five games spanning 30.2 innings.

They haven’t been quite as dominant lately, though, ranking tied for ninth in wRC+ (104) with a 21.5 K% in the previous 30 days. Finally, the Guardians are slight underdogs (-102), and the game’s total is 9.0 runs.
Nestor Cortes (SP – SD) vs. SF
Nestor Cortes was sharp in his last start. He allowed only one run on six hits and one walk with six strikeouts and 79 pitches in 4.2 innings against the Giants on August 12. He’ll get another crack at the Giants in a favorable matchup.
The Giants are tied for last in wRC+ (72) with a 25.8 K% versus lefties and tied for 17th in wRC+ (96) with a 24.2 K% on the road this year. San Francisco was also tied for 19th in wRC+ (96) with a 23.1 K% in the previous 30 days. Thus, the Padres are -130 favorites, and the game’s total is a non-threatening 8.0 runs.
Michael Wacha (SP – KC) vs. TEX
Michael Wacha is a rock-solid pitcher in his home ballpark. In 148.1 innings at home since last season, Wacha has spun a 2.79 ERA, 3.91 WHIP, 1.16 WHIP, 6.7 BB% and 21.5 K%. He has a tasty matchup tonight.
The Rangers are 25th in wRC+ (93) with a 21.6 K% versus righties and tied for 22nd in wRC+ (92) with a 22.2 K% on the road this season. Furthermore, Texas was 30th in wRC+ (86) with a 23.3 K% in the previous 30 days. So, the Royals are -130 favorites, and the game’s total is 9.0 runs.

The Dodgers will get the Coors Field bump tonight, starting a series in Colorado. They’ll also get a pick-me-up from facing Kyle Freeland and Colorado’s pathetic bullpen.
