The bitter rivalry between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier has just had another flash point.
‘DC’ has been retired for years, but his job as a UFC analyst and commentator means he’s always talking about MMA.
Naturally, the former two-weight UFC champion was asked about the sport when he recently appeared on Shannon Sharpe’s podcast.
Jon Jones took issue with Daniel Cormier‘s reason for excluding him from his MMA Mount Rushmore.

Jon Jones is widely regarded as the greatest MMA fighter of all time after his 28-1 (1NC) run in the sport.
The only blip on his record is a controversial DQ defeat to Matt Hammill, who he was dominating before their 2009 fight was waved off due to illegal elbows landing.
Also, one of his two wins over Daniel Cormier was overturned to a no-contest due to a failed drug test.
Jones’ biggest rival used his history of testing positive for illegal substances as a reason to exclude him when he ranked the top four fighters of all time.
“Demetrious Johnson. Georges St-Pierre. Khabib. Khabib was undefeated,” Cormier said when asked to name his MMA Mount Rushmore.
“Fourth? God, that is where it gets tough. I would never put myself up there, right? But I’m right in that 4-7 range of [fighters].
“Anderson [Silva] had the steroids, so I can’t put Anderson. I would like to put Anderson. If I’m saying all those guys are included, then obviously Jon [Jones] and Anderson are on that Mount Rushmore. I refuse to do that. Not in fighting.”
After a clip of Cormier’s comments went viral, Jones took to social media to hit back at his old foe.
“When DC tells his story, somehow I’m always the co-star. Thanks @ShannonSharpe84 for the invite, even if I was only there in spirit. #Airbnb,” he tweeted.
“To have a man out there lobbying on one of the biggest podcasts, trying to convince the world that my work ethic was powered by steroids… you clearly didn’t even watch the interview,” Jones added when a fan defended Cormier.
“High school state champ, JUCO national champ, youngest UFC champion, greatest in MMA history. A lifetime of loss, victories and sacrifice and this guy wants to write it all off as steroids. Honestly, it’s insulting. But I can’t help but laugh, knowing it was God given abilities that made him feel so inferior.”
Will Jon Jones fight again?
Jon Jones wants to fight again after announcing his very short-lived stint in retirement earlier this year.
The 38-year-old is desperate to headline when the UFC puts on a show at the White House in July 2026.
Dana White says there’s a ‘billion to one’ chance of that happening. Jones is currently in the UFC CEO’s bad book for agreeing to fight Tom Aspinall before reneging on the deal and retiring for a few weeks instead.
Jones has since responded to White crushing his dream of fighting at President Donald Trump’s official residence.
“Despite the odds, I’m still training and optimistic about the possibility of being part of the White House event,” he wrote on social media. “At the end of the day, Dana is the boss and it’s his call whether I compete that night or not.
“I do know Dana was really excited about the fight, and the door hasn’t been completely closed.
“That’s all a guy like me really needs. It sounds like another awesome goal to be inspired by. Sometimes in life, we’re not going to reach everything we set out to do and that’s okay. But I like my chances… after all, one in a billion is exactly what it took to end up as Jon ‘Bones’ Jones in the first place.”
