We are just one week away from the start of the NFL season, and we have our first blockbuster trade of the season to process, which has sent some NFL odds into a frenzy.
The Dallas Cowboys have traded Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a pair of first-round picks and Kenny Clark, and as a result, their respective Super Bowl odds are on the move.

Green Bay Packers Super Bowl odds
The Green Bay Packers made a splash on Thursday, acquiring Micah Parsons from the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for two 1st round picks and defensive lineman Kenny Clark.
The move comes after weeks of back and forth between the disgruntled defensive end and the Dallas Cowboys— a spat in which the two sides, including Jerry Jones, exchanged harsh words.
With the star linebacker now rocking green and yellow, the Packers’ Super Bowl odds have shortened from +2000 to +1600.
Parsons brings an excellent track record with him, and in the prime of his career, should help elevate the Packers’ defense to heights that will pay dividends in the playoffs.
Packers division odds
The Packers were trading at +260 to win the NFC North before the Parsons trade was announced, and in a bit of a surprising twist, they are now the betting favorite at +175.
Given the way the Packers are limping into the season with a plethora of injuries, I don’t believe the massive odds shift is justified by adding one defensive player.
Parsons is good, don’t get me wrong, but the Detroit Lions should still be the team to beat in that division.
Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl odds
Did the Cowboys get enough back in return for Parsons? That’s the question everyone is asking, and only time will tell if their two first-round picks will amount to anything worth while.
For now, though, one week away from raising the curtains on the 2025-26 NFL season vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, the morale has to be pretty low.
Parsons’ play earned him a contract extension, but for whatever reason, Jerry Jones did not want to pay the man.
His absence is already being felt on the odds board with the Cowboys drifting from +5000 to +6000.
Cowboys division odds
The Cowboys were always going to have long odds to win the division, but they’ve only drifted out slightly, moving from +600 to +700.
Parsons’ absence will be felt on the field, but make no mistake, the Cowboys’ offense was going to be the unit that won or lost games for the team.
I understand the market move, and I believe it’s justified.
NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds

With the move to Lambeau Field, Parsons is now the betting favorite to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year.
His odds have shortened from +750 to +600, ahead of the likes of former betting favorite Aidan Hutchinson and T.J. Watt.
Playing on a team with expectations of making a deep playoff run will help Parsons’ case, as will a schedule that consists of bottom-feeder teams such as the Browns, Panthers, and Giants.
He’ll make his return to Jerry’s World in Week 4, which should give him enough added motivation to have the award all but wrapped up after that one.
