Former world title challenger Marcus Browne will replace Rocky Fielding to face Brandon Glanton on October 1 in Lagos, Nigeria.
The Staten Island fighter steps in after Fielding withdrew from the Amir Khan-promoted event at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena.
Fielding (30-3, 18 KOs) had been due to return for the first time since a December 2022 loss to Dan Azeez, but is out and casts doubts over his future once again.
That opened the door for Browne (25-2, 16 KOs), who takes the fight on five weeks’ notice against compatriot Glanton (20-3, 17 KOs).
Browne, 34, has boxed just four times in six years after defeating Badou Jack at the MGM Grand in a career-best performance. Since then, the southpaw suffered stoppage defeats to Jean Pascal and Artur Beterbiev while beating Denis Grachev and Adrian Taylor on points.
His loss to Beterbiev in December 2021 served as both his last world title opportunity and his final outing at the 175-pound weight class.
Marcus Browne steps in
After moving to cruiserweight in 2022, Browne outpointed Taylor in August 2023, but has not fought since. A planned return in June against Olanrewaju Durodola fell apart on fight day due to medical concerns.

Glanton enters the clash off a twelve-round defeat to Chris Billam-Smith at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in April. The American gave a good showing and remains a headline draw.
Amir Khan Promotions said, “We did tell you that this is chaos!
“The main event is set. Brandon “Bulletproof” Glanton (20-3, 17 KOs) faces Marcus Browne (25-2, 16 KOs) in a bad-blood showdown years in the making.
“This is unfinished business. It all goes down at Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, on October 1.”
The co-features see outings for Andrew Tabiti alongside former IBF champion Richard Commey.
