Lamar Jackson misses practices with hamstring strain as Ravens prepare for Texans

Quarterback Lamar Jackson was not practicing Wednesday as the Baltimore Ravens ramped up preparations for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans at M&T Bank Stadium.

Jackson strained his hamstring in the Ravens’ Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. Ravens coach John Harbaugh hasn’t specifically addressed Jackson’s status. He’s scheduled to speak to reporters following Wednesday’s practice.

The two-time MVP was pulled late in the third quarter of the Chiefs’ loss. He had his right hamstring wrapped while sitting on the bench for the fourth quarter in Kansas City, and later walked out of the locker room with a pronounced limp.

Baltimore hasn’t publicly ruled out Jackson, but it’s preparing to be without him for at least a week.

If Jackson can’t play, the Ravens would start Cooper Rush against the Texans, who have the NFL’s top scoring defense. Rush was 9-5 in 14 career starts for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Ravens also figure to use a practice squad elevation on Tyler Huntley, who started nine games for an injured Jackson during his first stint in Baltimore.

Jackson is hardly the Ravens’ only injury concern. Fullback Patrick Ricard (calf), left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle), middle linebacker Roquan Smith (hamstring) and cornerbacks Marlon Humphrey (calf) and Nate Wiggins (elbow) all sat out of practice Wednesday, and they seem unlikely to play Sunday against the Texans.

The Ravens also put starting defensive linemen Nnamdi Madubuike (neck) and Broderick Washington (ankle) on injured reserve last week.

Jackson hasn’t missed a game with an injury since December 2022.
