Week 4 is officially in the books, and there’s a lot to digest.
During the Miami Dolphins’ win over the New York Jets on Monday, All-Pro wide receiver Tyreek Hill suffered a gruesome knee injury that required hospitalization. It was initially reported that Hill dislocated his knee on the play, though follow-up reports on Tuesday morning indicate that he also suffered several torn ligaments, including a torn ACL.

Another big-time injury to monitor is that of two-time MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson, who exited Sunday’s loss to the Kansas City Chiefs with a hamstring injury in the third quarter. Head coach John Harbaugh said Monday that Jackson wouldn’t have been able to return, even if the game was competitive. He declined to offer a prognosis or timeline for Jackson, and a report surfaced Tuesday that Jackson is “likely” to miss Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans. We’ll see what update Harbaugh and the Ravens have later this week.
Meanwhile in Cleveland, the Browns are reportedly considering a switch to Dillon Gabriel as the starting quarterback this week. They face the Minnesota Vikings in London on Sunday, and Brian Flores’ defense is no picnic even for seasoned NFL veterans, so even with Joe Flacco struggling, it remains to be seen if the Browns make the call as the week goes on.
Turning attention toward the start of Week 5, the status of San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and other key players is up in the air for Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Purdy is battling a toe injury and not practicing Tuesday, nor are wide receivers Ricky Pearsall (knee) and Jauan Jennings (ankle, ribs). It seems like it’ll be a race against time to see who’s healthy for the trip to SoFi Stadium.
