The Toronto Blue Jays have made the ALCS a series. The Blue Jays broke out in Game 3 Wednesday night with a 12-4 (box score) win over the Seattle Mariners. The Mariners still hold a 2-1 series lead and need just two wins to make their first ever World Series, but Toronto has shown some life for the first time this series and have a chance to even things up in Game 4.
The Blue Jays haven’t been to the ALCS since 2016 and haven’t been to the World Series since 1993. The Mariners haven’t been to this round since 2001 and have never won the AL pennant. They remain the only team of 30 in MLB to have never played in the World Series. They’ll have their chance to advance here, but they have to deal with a hungry Blue Jays team.

Game 4 storylines
Mariners: Game 3 was an ugly showing for the Mariners but it only changes the math a little. They still have four games to get two more wins. With Max Scherzer, who has a 5 ERA in his last nine playoff appearances, on the mound for the Blue Jays Thursday night, they have to still be feeling good.
Blue Jays: It seemed for a few days that the Blue Jays had hit a wall, but they reminded everyone Wednesday night just why they were the best team in the American League during the regular season. They hit home runs, they hit doubles, they did it all. Now they have to do it again. And again. And again.
Game 4 prediction
Toronto’s offense woke up in Game 3 and they hit Luis Castillo hard twice during the regular season. Max Scherzer hasn’t looked so hot himself lately. I’m expecting a high-scoring Game 4 and the Mariners to come out ahead, and take a 3-1 series lead. — Mike Axisa
