TORONTO — Los Angeles Dodgers left-hander Alex Vesia was not on the team’s World Series roster announced Friday. Vesia is not expected to be available for the World Series as he deals with what the team called “deeply personal family matter”, a team source told The Athletic.

Pitchers Tanner Scott and Ben Casparius are also not on the roster. Neither had appeared for the Dodgers this October, though each had been on at least one round’s roster (Scott for the Wild Card Series and Division Series, Casparius for the Championship Series).

The Dodgers added pitchers Edgardo Henriquez and Will Klein to the 26-man group.

Scott underwent an abscess incision to address an infection on his rear during the National League Division Series and, while cleared to throw, did not go through a full ramp-up before the start of the World Series.

The Dodgers were looking to add some right-handed relievers to their roster in large part to combat the Blue Jays’ right-handed power bats in Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and George Springer. Both Henriquez and Klein lack experience but have premium stuff, with Henriquez touching 103 mph with his fastball and Klein boasting strong strikeout rates in the minors and majors this season.

The 29-year-old Vesia has been a consistent performer in a rocky Dodgers bullpen, putting up a 3.02 ERA in 68 appearances this season and allowing no runs in his last six appearances this postseason after giving up two in the wild-card round.
