When Georges St-Pierre returned to the sport at UFC 217, Dana White broke his golden rule after the legend put on a sensational performance.
After UFC 167 when Georges St-Pierre picked up the most controversial win of his career against Johny Hendricks, which UFC boss Dana White thinks was the wrong decision, he walked away from the sport.
That was until three years later when he returned to the Octagon to take on then middleweight champion Michael Bisping in the UFC 217 main event on November 4.
At one point it seemed as though the fight wouldn’t happen and White began pitching other fights for both fighters, but after Tyron Woodley‘s performance against Demian Maia, the UFC boss didn’t want to reward him with a fight against GSP.

St-Pierre returned to become two-weight world champion
After an incredible lead-up to their fight, they finally stepped into the Octagon to face each other on November 4.
Early on in the fight, the two rivals traded on the feet until near the end of the round when the Canadian scored his first takedown of the fight, but the British champion managed to make it back to his feet.
Again in round two, the fight was pretty even until St-Pierre scored another takedown and controlled Bisping on the ground. But again, he didn’t keep him down for long and Bisping made it back to his feet once more.
However, when he took the champion down in round three, he began to rain down some ground-and-pound, but he ended up coming out as the more damaged fighter with blood pouring from his nose and forehead.
Despite that, shortly after making it back to the feet, St-Pierre dropped Bisping with a left hook and subsequently followed him to the ground where he sunk in a rear-naked choke, forcing the tap.
Dana White broke his golden rule and it came back to bite him
After returning to the sport and immediately winning the 185lb title, fans and the UFC boss were excited for the potential future fights for St-Pierre.
One of which was a title unification bout against then interim champion, Robert Whittaker. And following the event, White broke his golden rule of not making fights on fight night, and announced that St-Pierre vs Whittaker was ‘a done deal’.
“Yeah, he’s back,” Dana told ESPN at the time.
“What’s next is Georges vs Whittaker. That fight’s done, it’s a done deal,” the boss went on to reveal.
White breaking his golden rule of not making fights on fight night came back to bite him as ‘Rush’ St-Pierre decided to vacate his middleweight strap soon after UFC 217 and retired from the sport.
