As an English-speaking underdog known for knocking people out, the Aussie was expected to get a good reception at Thursday’s pre-fight press conference in New York.
However, Jack Della Maddalena was drowned out by a booing crowd every time he tried to speak.

Why did Jack Della Maddalena get booed?
Dana White believes a combination of Islam Makhachev’s star power and religion makes him a fan favorite in New York.
The former lightweight champion is a devout Muslim who has acquired many loyal supporters over the years.
“Obviously, there’s a huge Muslim community out here in New York,” White told FOX Sports Australia.

“Also, you have to look at the fact that Islam is looked at as one of the best ever.
“Islam has done so much. And the whole Dagestan, and Khabib [Nurmagomedov], and the camp that they have out there.
“Like I said, it’s basically like a Muslim country right now, so I’m sure Jack is feeling it.”

“I love it,” he said when asked about being booed.

“This is the atmosphere I’m looking forward to on Saturday night.
