Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Myles Straw took a unique approach to recruiting Kyle Tucker in free agency.
After Tucker and his wife announced that they were expecting their first child in an Instagram post, Straw commented for the four-time All-Star to join the Blue Jays and offered to help babysit.
Straw and Tucker were previously teammates on the Houston Astros from 2018 through the start of the 2021 season. Tucker was also a groomsman at Straw’s wedding.
Tucker will have several interested suitors in free agency, as he’s coming off an impressive 2025 campaign with the Chicago Cubs.
He hit .266 with 22 home runs, 25 doubles and 73 RBI in 136 games. Tucker also racked up 25 stolen bases while posting an .841 OPS.
The Blue Jays wrapped up a 2025 season in which they secured their first American League pennant since 1993 and came one game away from clinching a World Series title. They could believe that the potential addition of Tucker is enough for them to hoist the Commissioner’s Trophy in 2026.
