A fresh war of words between the biggest enemies in UFC history is raging on.

Conor McGregor has been teasing a return to fighting in 2026 ever since United States President Donald Trump announced plans for a UFC event at the White House.

As the Irishman ramps up talk of a comeback, he’s been revisiting a rivalry that was not only the biggest of his career, but arguably the most heated feud of all time.

McGregor returned to social media this week after claiming to have undergone ‘trauma treatment’ in Mexico. That evidently did not impact his trash-talking ways online, and Khabib Nurmagomedov has pitched a different kind of treatment to resolve it…

Khabib Nurmagomedov makes ‘addict’ claim amid war of words with Conor McGregor

McGregor’s submission loss to Nurmagomedov in 2018 has not prevented him from continuing to target the Dagestani legend with controversial remarks regarding religion and family.

Having previously caused a stir with comments about his arch-rival’s late father, Abdulmanap, McGregor referenced Khabib’s personal loss again while taking aim at the Russian star for selling digital papakhas, the traditional headwear he frequently wore inside the Octagon.

After being accused of scamming his fans, Nurmagomedov hit back at McGregor’s claim by calling him a liar. He recently returned to social media again to fire another shot at the controversial Irishman.

“My count is 56 former drug addicts, at my rehabilitation centers in Dagestan, that I treated,” Nurmagomedov wrote on X.

“Come to Dagestan @TheNotoriousMMA they’ll take care of you here.

“Mexico didn’t help you, as far as I can see,” he added.

Khabib Nurmagomedov re-shared news of Conor McGregor’s UFC anti-doping suspension

McGregor is currently serving a suspension after three whereabouts violations in 2024, the first of which came just one day before his planned UFC 303 return against Michael Chandler was canceled due to a toe injury.

As a result of the indiscretions, the Dublin native received an 18-month suspension retroactive to the date of his third violation, meaning McGregor will be eligible to compete again on March 20, 2026.

The fact that it took over a year for the violations and suspension to be announced caused a stir in the MMA community, in addition to the fact that the punishment allows for McGregor to return in time for the White House event.

Nurmagomedov re-shared news of McGregor’s suspension on his Instagram Stories, though he declined to include a comment of his own in the post.
