Heavyweight boxing titleholder Oleksandr Usyk believes Jake Paul might not survive his upcoming fight against Anthony Joshua.
Jake Paul will undoubtedly face the toughest test of his polarizing boxing career later this month when he faces former heavyweight boxing champ Anthony Joshua in Miami. Paul, who announced his full-time move to heavyweight following his recent win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., will look to pull off arguably the greatest upset in the sport’s history.
Few are giving Paul a chance to defeat Joshua by points in their upcoming fight, leaving a potential knockout as the lone possibility to spur an upset. Joshua is returning to the ring for the first time since his knockout defeat to Daniel Dubois last year.
Oleksandr Usyk will watch the Joshua vs. Paul proceedings later this month, but shared a brutal assessment of how the fight will likely go in his eyes.
Oleksandr Usyk scoffs at Jake Paul’s chances against two-time foe Anthony Joshua
In a recent interview with Boxing Scene, Usyk gave a brutally honest analysis of how Joshua vs. Paul might play out later this month.
“If Anthony Joshua wants, he will kill this guy,” Usyk said. “Listen, a lot of questions, blah, blah, blah … Anthony Joshua is an Olympic champion, first. Jake Paul, yeah a sportsman, a YouTuber, a showman.
“[Anthony Joshua is a] Rolls Royce, [Jake Paul is a] Fiat. Listen, it’s true. It’s just true.” (h/t MMA Fighting)
Paul’s lone professional boxing loss came against Tommy Fury in 2023, and he’s defeated the likes of Nate Diaz, Anderson Silva, and heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson since the setback. Joshua looks in supreme shape ahead of the Paul fight, leading many to diminish Paul’s chances even more than before.
Paul has the chance to make history in more ways than one later this month in South Florida. For Usyk, he hopes Paul isn’t seriously hurt in the Joshua fight and can move forward in his career following the bout.
