Derrick Lewis shared a rather hilarious response to news of the breakup between UFC fighters Alex Pereira and Tracy Cortez.
Pereira, the UFC’s current light heavyweight champion, revealed on New Year’s Eve that he and Cortez were officially in a relationship. The news created quite the buzz amongst MMA fans, which led to some individuals trolling Tracy’s ex-boyfriend and fellow UFC fighter Brian Ortega on social media (see that here).
However, the spark between Alex Pereira and Tracy Cortez did not last very long; as just days after making their relationship public, ‘Poatan’ announced that he and Cortez had decided to part ways.
“Thank you to my fans for all the love,” Pereira said in a statement. “I would like to communicate with you guys that even though me and Tracy shared some great moments together, we decided it would be better for the both of us to go our separate ways. I wish her nothing but the best in her journey.”
The short-lived romance garnered a ton of comical reactions on social media, but it was the comments made by UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis that seemingly stole the show.
ESPN MMA shared news of the Pereira / Cortez split on Instagram and ‘The Black Beast’ promptly commented on the post with the following reaction:
“She moving up to heavyweight.” – Lewis shared.
Derrick Lewis (29-12 MMA) is slated to return to the Octagon later this month at UFC 324 for a highly anticipated showdown with Waldo Cortes-Acosta (16-2 MMA). The former UFC title challenger currently boasts a two-fight winning streak, this after earning back-to-back TKO victories over Rodrigo Nascimento and Tallison Teixeira in his most recent Octagon appearances.
