Dana White on Anthony Joshua vs Jake Paul: “Everybody that was involved in that thing should be embarrassed”

Dana White was unsurprisingly not a fan of the recent boxing bout between Anthony Joshua and Jake Paul, which drew a lot of widespread attention on Netflix. While the contest drew massive viewership numbers worldwide, the bout played out in a largely farcical fashion, with the generally uneventful affair wrapping up with Joshua finishing Paul inside the distance in the latter’s first-ever stoppage loss.

With White continuing to carve out more of a place in the boxing space with his Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford announcement, and now the looming launch of Zuffa Boxing, it makes a degree of sense the UFC figurehead would be asked to weigh in with his thoughts on that AJ-Paul clash. Also the public bad bloood between Paul and White adds something to the situational context. In an interview with Complex, with an excerpt posted to X account @acdmma_, White said,

“It’s just not what I do. I think everybody that was involved in that thing should be embarrassed. It’s crazy that that fight was even allowed to happen.”

Going off of his above quote and re-directing to what he does do, Dana White gave some insights into what potential contests could find placement on the highly discussed UFC White House card set for this Summer. The June 2026 event was touched upon in the same referenced interview with Complex, with White succinctly saying no to Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler happening at this looming event.

The UFC figurehead touched on the fight as being something that the company was interested in pursuing a couple of years ago, but it seems like the temperature has demonstrably cooled on that fight idea. White did not even seem confident with the overall idea that ‘The Notorious’ would return for a card like that, considering McGregor has been out of the cage for close to half a decade now.

When asked about Jon Jones vs. Alex Pereira, White seemed somewhat on the hesitant side with how reliable Jones would be in terms of showing up for that unique event. Dana White did seem intrigued by ‘Bones’ versus ‘Poatan’ but did seem to mention a caveat that he would be intrigued for the fight to be at 205 pounds. This is worth noting as Pereira has been seemingly campaigning for a fight with Jones at heavyweight to begin a desired path to an unprecedented UFC title in a third weight category.
