Joe Rogan is one of the most recognizable figures associated with the UFC, having called some of the biggest fights in MMA history.
When Rogan isn’t calling the fights from Octagon side, he can usually be found working on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, which ranks among the biggest podcasts in the world.
Rogan shoots his podcast exclusive inside his podcast studio. However, he very nearly participated in a wild podcast set atop the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
The insane story of this ambitious project was revealed by social media star MrBeast during a conversation with Jackass star Steve-O. MrBeast was apparently the architect of the plan, but ultimately fell through.
Here’s how it went down, according to the man himself.
How Joe Rogan nearly went from the UFC Octagon to the pyramids

“One of the videos we did last year, we got the Pyramids of Egypt for 100 hours,” he explained. “I got to explore inside the Pyramids and go unrestricted wherever I wanted. We went underneath the pyramids, we went in all the secret rooms. We went crawling around at the very top of the Pyramid of Giza. It was really f**king sick. That was a video we worked on for like three years.
“We were this close to doing a podcast with Joe Rogan on top of the pyramid,” he added. “He couldn’t make it out and make it work. He had a completely different schedule and we couldn’t move it. The days you get at the pyramid are just the f**king days you get at the pyramid.
“I thought it would have been so funny. He also does it in his studio, he doesn’t travel. So I don’t know if he even wanted to do it. Maybe it was like ‘I’m busy, I don’t want to f**king leave the studio.’”
While MrBeast is right that Rogan doesn’t travel much these days, the UFC commentator stays very busy on home soil. He’ll be back in action to commentator UFC 324 next weekend. It’ll be the promotion’s first broadcast on Paramount.
