‘The Black Beast’ made this boxer pay for his arrogance.
Not many hit harder in combat sports than Derrick Lewis, and the ex-UFC title challenger has put his insane power to good use inside the Octagon.
The 40-year-old will return at UFC 324 this Saturday in pursuit of his 17th knockout in the promotion. His current tally of 16 stands as the KO record, and prominent names like Gabriel Gonzaga, Curtis Blaydes, and Alexander Volkov are among Lewis’ victims.
But it’s not only Lewis’ fellow UFC stars who have fallen courtesy of his fists. In 2019, one overly confident boxer learned firsthand why ‘The Black Beast’ is the Octagon’s KO king…

What is Derrick Lewis’ best KO in the UFC? 👊
'The Black Beast' has knocked out Curtis Blaydes, Alexander Volkov, Gabriel Gonzaga, Travis Browne and many more inside the Octagon.
Derrick Lewis took seconds to batter boxer who called him out
Lewis was called out by a boxer who was speaking negatively about MMA fighters at his local gym back in 2019.
In a post on social media, the UFC star claimed the individual had vowed to knock him out with ease because of what sport he was in. Lewis subsequently offered him the chance to put his money where his mouth is.
‘The Black Beast’ uploaded the footage of what happened when he laced up the boxing gloves and stepped inside the ring with the disrespectful pugilist.
It took less than a minute for him to fold under Lewis’ heavy hands. After frantically trying to escape as powerful punches came ferociously toward him, the boxer eventually stuck his body through the ropes to stop the onslaught.
Let that be a lesson not to mess with the most prolific KO artist in UFC history…

Derrick Lewis is in the best shape of his life for UFC 324
‘The Black Beast’ has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence since a difficult run where he recorded just one win in five fights. Lewis has emerged victorious from three of his four outings since then, and that might be in part down to his improved physical condition.
Before Lewis’ flying knee against Marcos Rogerio de Lima set up a quick rebound win, the veteran heavyweight sported a visibly leaner physique.
And that could be the case again at Friday’s weigh-ins after some recent comments that saw Lewis claim to be in great shape for UFC 324.
“I ain’t gonna lie to you, I’m in the best shape of my life, right now,” Lewis said on The Beast and the Cowboy podcast.
“Mentally and physically, everything is going perfectly. The UFC provided me with some great peptides and I’ve been taking it every day and I’ve been feeling the difference,” he added.
Lewis later claimed to have misspoken about the “peptides,” nearly all of which are regarded as banned substances under UFC’s anti-doping program.
