The Phoenix Suns will be without Devin Booker for at least a week after the star guard sprained his right ankle in Friday night’s loss at the Atlanta Hawks, the team announced Sunday.
The Suns may also not have guard Jalen Green, who tweaked his right hamstring earlier in the same game. Green — a key piece of the Kevin Durant summer blockbuster trade — has played in only four games this season because of the hamstring issue. He was listed as questionable for Sunday’s home game against the Miami Heat with “right hamstring injury management.”
Booker had scored 31 points before stepping on the foot of Atlanta center Onyeka Okongwu while running upcourt late in the third quarter. Booker dropped in pain and had to be helped to the locker room. Without Booker and Green, Phoenix was out-scored 26-12 in the fourth quarter and lost 110-103.
In his 11th season, Booker is averaging 25.4 points and 6.2 assists. Guard Grayson Allen likely will replace him in the starting lineup.
The Suns (27-18) have been among the league’s bigger surprises under first-year coach Jordan Ott, but they have seldom been at full strength. In addition to Green, Allen has missed 17 games this season with health issues.
