On this day in 2020, the GOAT was called out to his face following a huge knockout.
Jon Jones has suggested that he could be completely done with fighting in recent weeks following some of his comments about his health.
‘Bones’ hasn’t had Dana White’s backing to return at the White House in June but a fighter retiring only to compete again the following year wouldn’t be all that surprising.
It’s not like the consensus greatest of all time has never taken a break before either, with Jones taking time off before he beat Ciryl Gane to win the heavyweight title in his debut in the division.
Before he made the decision to vacate his light heavyweight title and work towards going up a weight class, a contender had already announced himself to the champion.

Jon Jones was glad to see Corey Anderson’s streak end when Jan Blachowicz knocked him out
Jon Jones’ controversial win over Dominick Reyes was the third fight in a series of fairly underwhelming title defenses for the light heavyweight champion.
A fight that could have determined his fourth challenger since winning the vacant belt at UFC 232 would have needed a statement performance to really excite people.
Fortunately, that’s exactly what Jan Blachowicz did when he knocked out Corey Anderson in their rematch by demonstrating the Polish power in his right hand on this day in 2020.
With the Fight Night taking place in New Mexico, Jones was in attendance for the fight, meaning that Blachowicz was able to send a direct message to him after the finish.
Despite this, Anderson, who has said that he was denied a shot at Jones prior to this fight due to his social media presence, was the main subject of the champion’s thoughts on the bout.
“I was happy to see Corey Anderson eat his words,” he told ESPN, as stated by Fox Sports. “He’s been talking so much trash, and then to go out there and perform the way he did, it was, uh, yeah.”
‘Bones’ was also complimentary of the victor but that didn’t change his mind about defending the belt one more time before vacating it, leading to Blachowicz accusing Jones of running from him.

An unfortunate record was set on the same night that Jan Blachowicz stopped Corey Anderson
The main event of the UFC’s 2020 event in Rio Rancho, New Mexico ended in a big result but some of the main card bouts didn’t go the same way.
In fact, this event made history by becoming the first UFC card ever to have two disqualifications occur on the same night.
Only one fight separated the losses of both Michel Pereira and Kazula Vargas, who suffered defeats because they landed illegal knees on their opponents.
In the case of Pereira, who featured in the co-main event, this DQ ended up being the final UFC win of Diego Sanchez’s iconic run in the promotion.
