SAN FRANCISCO — Steph Curry will miss at least five more games as he continues managing lingering pain in his right knee, the team announced before Thursday’s game against the Boston Celtics.

Curry, who has been dealing with “runner’s knee” since late last month, will miss his sixth straight game Thursday, and it is unclear when he will return. The Warriors said Curry had another MRI, which revealed no structural damage to the knee, but they are hopeful the injury will improve with more time off.

The Warriors had hoped Curry, who has been out since aggravating the injury at the end of a Jan. 30 loss to the Detroit Pistons, could return to practice Wednesday after a week off for the All-Star break, but that didn’t happen, as Curry told the training staff he was still experiencing discomfort.

“He came back, and he just wasn’t quite feeling right,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said after Wednesday’s practice. “These guys know when they’re right and when they’re not, and he knew it wasn’t the right thing to go back into a full practice.”

Kerr said before Thursday’s game that he had only briefly spoken with Curry on Wednesday.

“The MRI was clean,” Kerr said. “We’re gonna give him 10 days, and we’ll re-evaluate at that point.”

Curry will miss five games during that time frame. The Warriors have a home game against the LA Clippers on March 2, then begin a three-game trip March 5 in Houston against the Rockets.

“There’s plenty of hope that that will be the case,” Kerr said of Curry’s ability to return after the extended rest. “But it’s just lingering soreness. And we were hoping that, obviously, he’d be ready for tonight after getting the All-Star break, but it wasn’t the case. He just needs more time.”

Curry, who has played 39 of 55 games this season, won’t make the 65-game threshold and will be ineligible for an All-NBA team or any other postseason honors.

    This story will be updated.
