Max Holloway has issued his first social media comments since a stunning BMF title loss at UFC 326 last weekend.

Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway lost his first lightweight bout in seven years last weekend against Charles Oliveira at UFC 326. After back-to-back BMF title fight victories, Holloway dropped a lopsided defeat to Oliveira’s elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and nonstop grappling pressure.

Fans, pundits, and some of Holloway’s fighting colleagues were stunned at the way the UFC 326 main event played out. Many expected another all-out war on the feet for as long as the fight lasted, but Oliveira shut down Holloway’s offense from the get-go.

At 34 years old, Holloway still has plenty of time to make another potential title run at the undisputed lightweight and BMF belts. In his first comments since UFC 326, Holloway acknowledged he still has a way to go to achieve his goals.

In a recent Instagram post, Holloway issued his first social media remarks since UFC 326.

“The highest of highs and the lowest of lows,” Holloway began.

“Saturday night was not my night. Sorry to all my family, friends and fans that I have let down. Shout out to Oliveira for doing his thing. All class so nothing but love to him.

“No excuses from this side and there never will be. I’ve been here before I know the work I need to do to get back to where I wanna be. We are far from done. See you guys at the top.”

A future trilogy between Holloway and Oliveira is possible, but Holloway will likely need to win at least one fight before making the case for another shot at Oliveira. Holloway won their first bout earlier in their featherweight tenures by first-round TKO.

In terms of potential opponents, Holloway fanatics should keep an eye out for the likes of Dan Hooker, Benoit Saint-Denis, and Paddy Pimblett. Expect Holloway back in the Octagon later this year.
