During his high-stakes UFC London main event, Lerone Murphy suffered a brutal injury.
This past Saturday, the premier MMA promotion returned to the UK capital for another Fight Night event, headlined by Lerone Murphy and Movsar Evloev.
The UFC London main event seemed to have high stakes attached to it, with the winner potentially going on to fight Alexander Volkanovski next for the title.
In the fight that was expected to lack action, Evloev went on to hand ‘The Miracle’ his first ever loss, picking up the majority decision win.
Murphy tore his hip flexor in round 4 of UFC London main event
The final result was extremely controversial, with the wide majority of UFC fans believing that Murphy did enough to pick up the win, especially after Evloev was deducted a point in round four.
However, it was in round four when the Brit slowed down massively after he seemed to pick up an injury to his hip.
Midway through the round, ‘The Miracle’ grabbed his hip after a brief exchange, and didn’t look entirely comfortable for the rest of the round.
Then during the interval between rounds four and five, Murphy could be heard telling his coaches that his hip popped.
Despite that, he came out in the final round attempting to finish the fight strongly, but the Russian contender did enough in the final two rounds to pick up the win.

And now just a few days removed from suffering the first loss of his career, Murphy has revealed that he tore his hip flexor in the fourth round.
“Tore my hip flexor in round 4. Be back in no time,” Murphy said in a video on his Instagram story as he received treatment on his injury.
Depending on the grade of his injury, Murphy could find himself out of action for at least three months.
However, he is already targeting a potential return fight against former title challenger Diego Lopes, who criticized his fight against Evloev.
Considering the controversy attached to the result, Murphy is handling the defeat like a true professional, without kicking up a fuss about the decision.
