The build up to the co-main event of Saturday night’s Real American Freestyle card was always going to be eventful.

Dillon Danis defied some people’s expectations by arriving in Tampa, Florida this week to make his return to competition.

Given both men’s personalities, it was only a matter of time before Danis and Colby Covington looked to push each other’s buttons before they face off.

It certainly didn’t take long for both men to exchange some comments at the press conference, leading to both men threatening to get physical.

On March 27, Real American Freestyle hosted a press conference where tensions were sure to escalate when it came to the two matchups at the top of the card.

Colby Covington and Dillon Danis went back and forth on a few things while taking the stage, though the majority of their comments were aimed at each other’s families.

The former interim UFC welterweight champion made several remarks about his upcoming opponent’s mother and whether he can get her number if he wins.

Danis responded with more scathing comments about Covington’s sister, stating at one point that he had a closed can of beer next to him that “would go through your head”.

Their face off at the end of the press conference was more playful than intense, with both men faking a few kicks at each other.

Staff and security immediately stepped in to prevent anything from happening, taking no risks, as soon as they both walked towards each other with their hands out and started trying to grab one another.

Arman Tsarukyan, who is being cautious of not upsetting the UFC, didn’t lash out at Georgio Poullas ahead of their rematch, though their face off was incredibly up close and intense.
