Eoin Sheridan plans to be the next great MMA fighter out of Ireland.
Standing at 6ft 5in as a welterweight, he certainly has the physical capabilities to make it to the top.
‘The Sheriff’ also has the gift of the gab, which, along with his 4-0 MMA record, makes him one of the prospects fight fans need to watch out for in 2026.
- EXCLUSIVE: 6ft 5in sparring partner Eoin Sheridan gives update on Conor McGregor’s comeback camp
What is Eoin Sheridan’s background?
Eoin Sheridan’s martial arts journey started when he took up kickboxing at a very early age.
The 31-year-old became a champion in his first sport and is looking to do the same thing in MMA.
“I was kickboxing from an early age,” Sheridan said during an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow. “My dad used to bring myself and my brother to karate halls when I was about five or six years of age. I went away from it for a few years when I was a teen, but then I went back to it through MMA.
Due to his sheer size, Sheridan struggled to find opponents during his amateur MMA career – but he’s feeling good after turning pro and linking up with PFL.
“In terms of amateur fights, I had a nightmare getting them, to be honest,” he added.
“6ft 5in welterweight, there is not many of us around, so I had a hard time getting them.
My first fight was against a Russian champion in IMMAF, that kind of says it all, really.
“It’s been a tough road in the MMA, but it’s going well now with the PFL for the last year or two.
Who does Eoin Sheridan train with?
Eoin Sheridan trains out of the famous Straight Blast Gym in Dublin, Ireland.
The PFL star went viral when Conor McGregor shared footage of them sparring earlier this year.
Sheridan has recently spent time in England, where he got the chance to train with UFC star Michael ‘Venom’ Page.
“I have some great lads helping me,” he said about his sparring partners.
“I was sparring with Conor for this camp. ‘MVP’ actually brought me over to London to spar with him just before his UFC London fight. You can’t really ask for better training partners than that.
“I have a lot of good lads from all around Europe who train here at SBG Ireland. Very high-level professional and amateur guys as well, so I’ve been getting great work for this camp, and I’m looking forward to letting the hands go now.”
When is Eoin Sheridan’s next fight?
Eoin Sheridan will face the toughest test of his career, on paper, later this month.
He’ll square off against #8-ranked welterweight contender Chris Mixan at PFL Belfast.
Sheridan expects to have a striking battle with the 7-1 American at the SSC Arena on April 16.
“Stylistically, it’s a good match,” the fighter from Dublin insisted. “He’s a good striker, like myself. He likes to throw hands, and I do, too.
“I’m looking forward to getting in there and seeing what he’s all about. First one to shoot loses.”
