A really flat performance where it looked like they’ve just started to run out of steam.
That’s been the feeling and description of Arsenal in all of their last four games.
The difference with the first leg of this competition last week is they managed to get over the line and sneak a narrow win.
The Gunners are a really poor watch at the minute, with barely any creativity or attacking edge and domestically have conceded twice in all of their last three games – which they’ve lost.
And they were hit by another major injury blow when it emerged Declan Rice missed training yesterday and was a major doubt for the game.
Last week saw Havertz nick a late win in Portugal to ensure they come home with a lead to build on, which is a real help.
As was shown in the weekend defeat to Bournemouth as the “small cracks beginning to show” started to become potholes and put them closer to a trophyless campaign, when just three weeks ago they were on for a clean sweep of four.
The motivational speeches and videos splashed across social media don’t seem to be helping as the pressure only increases and there’s a real danger things could all unravel in the days to come.
That shouldn’t be the case here against a Sporting side who dominated in terms of chances created last week but themselves were just lacking a clinical edge.
