Tom Aspinall seems to be moving ever closer to a fighting return as he shared some brief pad footage in a new YouTube video.
The undisputed heavyweight champion will have to watch as an interim champion is crowned in his division at UFC White House. Alex Pereira is piling on the pounds to move up to a third division, and will take on the man who sidelined Aspinall with multiple eye pokes, Ciryl Gane, in the co-main event.
Now, it seems that the champion is getting into shape and beginning to slowly but surely work towards a return to action. Aspinall had to undergo double eye surgery as a result of his injuries, and now appears to be getting his life back from travelling to hitting mitts.

Tom Aspinall hits pads in encouraging new training footage
Throughout his recovery, Tom Aspinall has not shied away from sharing the good, the bad and the ugly with his fans through his YouTube channel. He has managed to stay in the headlines through regular updates, as well as a surprising deal to join Eddie Hearn’s new Matchroom Talent Agency.
Now, it appears that his work is going in the right direction as he was seen in a new video hitting pads with a coach during a visit to Croatia. Aspinall has also noticeably ditched the sunglasses that had become part of his look at his lowest ebb, and seems to be getting back to full fitness.
There were only a few frames in which his pad work could be seen. But given what was written by Petesy Carroll in his Uncrowned story on Aspinall just a matter of months ago, it is a marked improvement from where he was.
Aspinall is expected to fight the winner of Pereira vs Gane, which serves as the co-main event of the UFC White House card. Whether or not he will be in attendance, his name is sure to fill the headlines again once he has a definite opponent for his return.
