The PGA Tour plays the sixth of its eight Signature Events this week, with a loaded field hitting Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., for the 2026 Truist Championship.

Quail Hollow is a storied track with the daunting Green Mile, one of the toughest finishing stretches on tour, and I break down the Truist Championship odds with Ludvig Aberg headlining this week’s top golf picks.

    ⛳ Truist Championship: Key takeaways

    • Best early bet: Ludvig Aberg (+1400) – Knocking on victory’s door with four Top 5 across his past five events while gaining true strokes across the board

    • Best early value: Harris English to win (+4500)  – With a T2 here in the PGA Championship and T3 in the 2023 Truist, English has my attention after also finishing T4 three weeks ago in the RBC Heritage

    • Course: Quail Hollow Club is a demanding 7,583-yard Par 71 with the notoriously difficult three-hole “Green Mile” finishing stretch

    • Weather: Early forecasts are calling for thundery showers and moderate breezes before giving way to a calm, sunny weekend

    • Expected cut: This is a Signature Event without a 36-hole cut, and everyone in the 72-player field will play all four rounds

Truist Championship odds: favorites & full field

The Truist Championship runs May 7-10 at Quail Hollow Club. Below are the latest outright betting odds, followed by the picks and market-by-market best bets we like this week.

    Best bets card

Outright: Ludvig Aberg (+1400): The perfect stylistic and statistical fit for this track, Aberg has gained true strokes across the board while carding four Top 5s across his past four events.

    Course breakdown: Quail Hollow Club

Quail Hollow Club is among the most demanding tracks on tour. Originally laid out by architect George Cobb in 1959, the course has been extensively transformed by Tom Fazio over the last two decades.

Fazio’s modifications sculpted the property into a massive and penalizing 7,583-yard Par 71 characterized by narrow, tree-lined fairways, deep bunkering, and heavily contoured green complexes that create a strategic risk/reward environment.

To score on Quail Hollow, players need to execute through the bag while balancing aggressive play alongside disciplined course management.

Historical data from PGA Tour events shows that while bombers like Rory McIlroy have an advantage on the long par 5s and beefy par 4s, extreme long-iron accuracy is also critical to navigate Fazio’s signature green complexes.

The course features a highly disproportionate number of approach shots from over 200 yards. Unpredictable spring weather in North Carolina can also leave its mark on golfers’ scorecards. Thick rough and severe false fronts on many greens demand elite scrambling skills and place a premium on hitting greens in regulation to avoid squares on the card.

Previous winners have played strong tee-to-green and capitalized on scoring opportunities across the scorable middle stretch before the daunting final three holes, famously dubbed the “Green Mile,” where surviving the gauntlet of water and sand often determines the champion.

    • Narrow, tree-lined fairways require tee-to-green accuracy

    • Sheer length of the Par 71 creates longer than average approaches

    • Heavily contoured green complexes with false fronts and run-offs

    • The Green Mile serves as a brutal three-hole finish

    • Water hazards are in play on seven holes

    Players to watch

    • Rory McIlroy: While there aren’t many tracks that don’t fit McIlroy’s game, his resume pops at Quail Hollow with four wins and five more Top 10s, and he heads back pacing this field in true strokes gained off-the-tee and tee-to-green in 2026.

    • Xander Schauffele: With a pair of solo seconds at Quail Hollow in the past two Truist Championships, Schauffele is a candidate to win with seven consecutive Top 25s leading into the 2026 edition.

Key stats & player profiles to target

    • True strokes gained on approach and greens-in-regulation percentage

    • True strokes gained off the tee and total driving

    • Scrambling and true strokes gained around the green

    • Par 5 birdie-or-better percentage

    • Proximity from 175-200 and 200-225 yards

    Players to watch

    • Matt Fitzpatrick: The three-time 2026 winner ranks fourth in adjusted scoring average, ninth in bogey avoidance and second in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green for the year, and he also finished T8 in the 2025 PGA Championship here

    • Ludvig Aberg: Missing the cut in his lone trip to Quail Hollow is the only knock here because Aberg has four Top 5s across his past five events while gaining true strokes across the board, including ranking third in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green during the heater

    Outright picks: winners to bet

    Ludvig Aberg to win (+1400)

Missing the cut in his lone trip to Quail Hollow is the only knock because Ludvig Aberg has four Top 5s across his past five events while gaining true strokes across the board, including ranking third in this field in true strokes gained tee-to-green during the heater.

    • Course Fit: Perfect stylistic and statistic fit for Quail

    • Recent Form: Four Top 5s through past five events

    • Key Stat: Third in field in true strokes gained tee-to-green during noted heater

Risk: Aberg did miss the cut in his lone visit to Quail Hollow.

    Odds movement & market notes

Rory McIlroy is unsurprisingly the betting favorite at BetMGM for the 2026 Truist Championship. He’s won four times at Quail Hollow with five more Top 10 finishes at the track.

Cameron Young, Xander Schauffele, Ludvig Aberg and Matt Fitzpatrick are right behind McIlroy, and I’m anticipating Young and Aberg to be particularly popular bets to win along with McIlroy this week.

From further down the board, players who could see their odds drop are Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama and Gary Woodland because of their length and solid tee-to-green metrics. Additionally, Harris English finished T2 in the PGA Championship held at Quail Hollow in 2025, so I suspect he’ll also be a popular pick for punters.
