Although UFC events headlined Conor McGregor always perform tremendously well, he will have some big competition in July.
This past weekend during MVP MMA‘s inaugural event on Netflix, the UFC made one of the biggest announcements they could possibly make.
During Francis Ngannou‘s walkout, Dana White went live on his Instagram to announce the full UFC 329 card on International Fight Week, revealing that Conor McGregor will make his return against Max Holloway.
And although whenever ‘The Notorious’ fights the world tunes in, this time, his event will have some pretty stiff competition, but not from the combat sports world.
Conor McGregor vs. Max Holloway card will clash with World Cup Quarter Finals
This coming summer, the United States, Canada and Mexico will host the 2026 Soccer World Cup, which begins on June 11 in Mexico.
The mega sporting event runs for just over a month, and USA will be hoping to better their last World Cup campaign by advancing past the first knockout stage.
And if they somehow do and make it to the quarter final, their match could end up clashing with the beginning of UFC 329.
On July 11, the third and fourth quarter finals matches will kick off, with one scheduled to be in Miami. The second match will kick off at 9pm EST, which will clash with the beginning of the UFC 329 main card.
Earlier this week, ‘The Notorious’ Irishman’s head coach aired his frustration with the promotion for their timing of their announcement.
And although the majority of the combat sports world is writing off McGregor because of the fact that it is his first fight in five years, his former opponent Dustin Poirier isn’t willing to make that mistake.

With the UFC having received quite a lot of criticism over the past few years for not putting together big fights, they will be hoping that the return of the former double champion once again captivates the eyes of the wider audience.
