Victor Ortiz shared his thoughts on all the news surrounding his former opponent, Floyd Mayweather.
Dana White suggested he could help Mayweather out last month following a rollercoaster year for the boxing legend.
Three different matchups have been spoken about at length, but as of yet, none of them have come together for ‘Money’.
While the likes of Mayweather vs Mike Tyson could still happen in 2026, things aren’t looking great for the man who controversially beat Ortiz 15 years ago.

Victor Ortiz says it’s a shame regarding the news surrounding Floyd Mayweather despite their history
Unlike Floyd Mayweather, Victor Ortiz has a bout just around the corner.
The former WBC welterweight champion will be making his bare-knuckle boxing debut when he faces Dominic Salcido at BKB 56 on July 18.
When previewing the matchup in an interview with Bloody Elbow, Ortiz shared his thoughts on all of the talk about Mayweather and his plans not coming to fruition.
“It’s a bummer, you know. It’s a shame,” he said. “People always wanted to see me versus Floyd but realistically, something like that, he’ll keep himself out of harm’s way. He knows what was going to happen. We weren’t going 12 rounds. I was going to knock him out but that was twelve years ago.”
Ortiz was beaten by Mayweather in controversial fashion back in 2011 after being hurt by a punch when he was looking the other way following a break in the action.

The 39-year-old has been able to take positives at this stage in his life from not getting the rematch.
However, he admitted that it wasn’t easy to get over his frustrations after believing that Mayweather purposefully didn’t entertain this idea.
“It was a pretty long process, yeah, because you really have to wake up to living with everyone just remembering that moment, you know? It’s one of those things where no matter what you have to say, everyone has their opinion and their expectations. I asked for the rematch countless times, even for free. We know that Floyd loves money. Keep all the money. I just want to knock you out.”
