Our college football AI predictions feature a winning record overall and on our featured picks heading into Week 7, and our model projects Indiana to beat Ohio State by one point in Saturday’s top-five showdown. It also picks Tennessee and BYU to cover as home underdogs against Alabama and Notre Dame to headline our score projections for all 58 games left on the Week 7 schedule.
We’ve compared our latest AI picks with this week’s Covers projections and our college football expert Chris Gregory’s Week 7 ATS picks to see where all three agree. Below are our featured matchups, followed by picks and score predictions for every game using the latest lines from Kalshi and sportsbooks.

Texas is one of the week’s clearest disagreements between the AI model and our comparison picks. Chris Gregory raises a fair concern about the Longhorns’ third-down efficiency, and both his selection and the Covers projection take Florida with the points. Sustaining drives is the obvious test for a Texas team asked to win by nearly two touchdowns: stalled possessions would leave very little room to separate. Our model nevertheless gives the Longhorns enough scoring to pull away, projecting a 35-20 result. That translates to Texas -11.5 and Over 51.5. Florida reaching 20 matters to the total, while Texas getting to five touchdowns is what turns a home victory into a cover.

LSU gets the bounce-back win, but Mississippi State keeps the extra half-point. The Tigers return home after a 35-34 overtime loss at Kentucky, while the Bulldogs have had a bye to regroup from Alabama’s 56-point outburst. Kamario Taylor’s lower-leg injury remains a concern for Mississippi State, making his availability more consequential than the rankings suggest. Anthony Evans III gives the Bulldogs a proven receiving threat if they can protect the quarterback and keep the offense on schedule. The model lands on LSU 38-24, producing Mississippi State +14.5 and Over 57.5. That spread edge is only half a point; the projection supports an LSU win much more comfortably than it supports the Bulldogs covering.

Aidan Chiles returns to East Lansing with Northwestern projected to leave with a win. Chiles spent two seasons at Michigan State before joining the Wildcats, while Spartans coach Pat Fitzgerald faces his former program. The quarterback comes off an efficient performance against Ball State, completing 17 of 23 passes for 272 yards and accounting for four touchdowns. That is a useful starting point for Northwestern, but carrying the same control into a conference road game is a different assignment. The model has the Wildcats winning 24-19, which produces Michigan State +7.5 and Under 49.5. Michigan State’s best route to changing that outcome is to force Chiles into long-yardage situations and make Northwestern earn its points through sustained drives.

Indiana earns the model’s marquee upset call in a game decided by one point. The 24-23 projection gives the Hoosiers both the outright win and the cover at +3.5, with Under 50.5 following from a 47-point total. Geoff Clark’s Ohio State vs. Indiana prediction also backs Indiana, emphasizing its line play and success on standard downs. That offers a sensible path to the upset: stay ahead of the chains and limit the number of possessions Ohio State’s passing attack gets to dictate. Chris Gregory takes the other side in our comparison table. The disagreement is meaningful, and a one-point forecast leaves ample room for a single turnover or failed red-zone trip to reverse the winner.

Virginia’s pass defense gives the Cavaliers a way to stay inside a generous number. SMU enters with the ACC’s leading passing offense at 341 yards per game, while Virginia allows a league-low 161.8 passing yards. Kevin Jennings and the Mustangs have also made Dallas a difficult trip for conference opponents, winning their first nine ACC home games. Virginia’s response has to be disciplined coverage and long possessions, especially after committing only two turnovers through six games. The AI score is SMU 27-23: a home win, but Virginia +9.5 against the spread and Under 52.5. The Cavaliers do not need to shut Jennings down to cover; they need to prevent the explosive sequences that would open a two-score gap.

Tennessee is the comparison table’s unanimous ATS selection, even with Alabama projected to win. Our 33-25 score leaves the Volunteers inside +9.5 and produces Over 53.5. Chris Gregory and the Covers projection also take Tennessee, although the Covers line is +7.5. Rob Paul’s Alabama vs. Tennessee prediction goes the other way against the spread, citing Alabama’s efficiency advantage, while identifying DeSean Bishop’s rushing production as a route for the Volunteers to score. That ground game matters to our forecast as well: Tennessee needs enough successful possessions to remain within reach. The AI margin is eight points, so the available number is crucial; our model’s +9.5 selection should not be treated as support for Tennessee +7.5.
Arizona State vs. Texas Tech AI prediction

Texas Tech’s ability to separate after halftime fits a convincing home win. The Red Raiders have outscored opponents by 72 points in second halves this season despite being within one possession at halftime in four of their first five games. They also forced four interceptions in their last outing at Colorado, a reminder of how quickly their defense can change the shape of a game. Arizona State handed Tech its only regular-season loss last year, so the Sun Devils have a recent example of keeping this matchup close. The AI projection is considerably less forgiving in Lubbock: Texas Tech 36, Arizona State 17, producing Texas Tech -14.5 and Over 49.5. Avoiding giveaways and extending possessions are essential if Arizona State is to prevent another strong Red Raiders finish.

Georgia wins comfortably in the forecast, but the spread leaves almost no room for error. The Bulldogs’ defensive strength and home scoring output are central to Chris Gregory’s case for laying the points. Our model also expects Georgia to control the matchup, holding Auburn to 14 points while scoring 34. A 20-point victory, however, falls just short of -20.5, so the resulting ATS selection is Auburn +20.5. The same 48-point projection produces Under 49.5. This is a distinction worth keeping in mind before treating an overwhelming favorite as an automatic spread play: one late Auburn possession could determine the cover without ever putting the outright result in doubt.

Missouri keeps this ranked SEC matchup within one score in the AI projection. Ole Miss gets the win, 30-27, but Missouri +5.5 and Under 58.5 are the selections generated by that score. Chris Gregory favors the Rebels after their post-bye victory and points to Kewan Lacy’s recovery as part of the offensive outlook. A productive running game would help Ole Miss sustain drives and protect a lead; Missouri’s task is to keep those possessions from ending in touchdowns. The model gives the Rebels only a field-goal cushion, so it differs from both Gregory and the Covers projection against the spread. The Under is also modest, with just 1.5 points separating the forecast from the market total.

Florida State’s run defense faces an unforgiving test in Miami Gardens. The Seminoles allowed Louisville to rush for 397 yards last week, and Miami can attack with both its backfield and Darian Mensah’s passing game. FSU’s own rushing offense gives it a way to shorten the game, but falling behind would make that plan harder to sustain. The model expects Miami to establish control, projecting a 41-16 victory and a cover at -21.5. The 57-point total creates only a half-point lean to Over 56.5, making the spread the more substantial difference between the forecast and the line. For Florida State, early defensive stops are vital; trading occasional scoring drives will not be enough against a projection this lopsided.

The model asks Oklahoma’s defense to carry a home win over Kentucky. A 27-17 score produces Oklahoma -6.5, placing the AI selection alongside the Covers projection and opposite Chris Gregory’s Kentucky pick. Gregory notes the Wildcats’ strong ATS start and Oklahoma’s offensive inefficiency, both reasons to be careful about expecting the Sooners to create separation easily. The forecast gives Oklahoma enough room through limiting Kentucky, rather than through a huge offensive total. With 44 combined points, Over 43.5 is only a half-point lean. A couple of possessions ending in field goals instead of touchdowns could decide that total, while Kentucky sustaining drives would put the Sooners’ projected cover under more pressure.

Notre Dame gets the road win, but BYU stays inside a double-digit spread. The AI projection is 28-21, supporting BYU +10.5 and Over 47.5. Rob Paul’s Notre Dame vs. BYU prediction favors the Irish against the spread, with LJ Martin’s absence and Notre Dame’s run defense central to his argument. Those concerns make BYU’s ability to find offense outside its usual rushing rhythm especially important. Our model still gives the Cougars three touchdowns and a one-score finish, enough to cover without requiring an upset. The comparison table makes the split clear: the AI model and Covers projection take BYU, while Chris Gregory backs Notre Dame at his published -9.5.

Houston’s run defense gives the Cougars a strong foundation for this Top 20 meeting. They allow just 74 rushing yards per game and held Kansas State well below its previous rushing average in last week’s 35-16 win. That can put more of the burden on Oklahoma State quarterback Drew Mestemaker, whose passing attack has been productive but cannot afford to hand Houston extra possessions. The Cougars also have a dangerous red-zone target in Patrick Overmyer, who caught four touchdown passes against the Wildcats. Our 35-21 projection produces Houston -4.5 and Under 63.5. For Oklahoma State to close that gap, it needs efficient early downs and clean possessions that keep Houston from controlling both field position and the pace of the game.

UCLA gets a double-digit win in the forecast, with quarterback availability an important challenge to that outlook. Chris Gregory’s Wisconsin selection cites Nico Iamaleava being ruled out, while the Covers projection still backs the Bruins against the spread. Our locked score is UCLA 27-17, producing UCLA -2.5 and Over 42.5. Wisconsin’s best opportunity is to keep the game uncomfortable for UCLA’s offense: force repeated third downs, avoid short fields, and make the Bruins sustain drives. A score model based on team results does not make that quarterback concern disappear. This is a matchup where the forecast and the surrounding personnel news deserve to be read together before drawing a stronger conclusion.

Utah is projected to turn its unbeaten start into another decisive win. The Utes enter 5-0 after beating Kansas 41-24, while Colorado is trying to change the direction of its conference season. The model gives Utah a 37-14 victory, producing Utah -15.5 and Over 49.5. That 23-point margin requires the Utes to win more than a few isolated big plays. Sustained offensive possessions would keep Colorado from shortening the game and would create pressure on the Buffaloes to answer with touchdowns. Colorado’s path to an upset starts with avoiding an early deficit and getting enough stops to keep its entire offensive plan available. Once that becomes a chase, the 51-point forecast suggests the Utes have the greater capacity to pull away.

Wake Forest is projected to end Cal’s hopes of another late escape. The Bears needed a touchdown with 18 seconds remaining and a final-play pass breakup to beat Virginia Tech 25-20 last week. Backup quarterback Jackson Brousseau led the decisive 75-yard drive, giving Cal a positive finish to build on. The challenge is producing that execution across an entire game against the newly ranked Demon Deacons. Our model has Wake Forest winning 31-17, producing Wake Forest -9.5 and Under 53.5. Cal needs substantially more offense than the forecast allows. Keeping the game close into the fourth quarter would let the Bears draw on last week’s composure; conceding repeated scoring drives would take that opportunity away.

Oregon
NEB 30%ORE 71%
Projected marginOregon by 7

More analysis
Oregon rebounds at home, but Nebraska claims the extra half-point. The Ducks’ pass rush remains a useful asset even after the loss to UCLA: Matayo Uiagalelei has five sacks this season, including two against the Bruins. Creating pressure without surrendering easy completions would help Oregon keep Nebraska from settling into long drives. The AI projection is Oregon 31-24, so the winner is the home team while the spread selection is Nebraska +7.5. A 55-point total also produces Over 51.5. The distinction is narrow on the side, with only half a point between the projected margin and the line. Nebraska does not need an upset to cash that selection, but it needs to stay within a touchdown.

How our college football AI predictions work
Our college football AI predictions use a custom Bayesian score model built from historical game results, separate offensive and defensive team ratings, home-field effects, and college football scoring patterns. The latest model version produces the scorelines shown throughout this article.
Each score projection is locked before we compare it with the selected full-game spread and total to derive the ATS and Over/Under selections. We use Kalshi lines where available and current sportsbook lines otherwise. Market prices do not change the score forecasts. The probability bars show Kalshi’s current Yes prices, rather than the model’s own win probabilities; the two sides may not add to exactly 100%.
We’ll keep developing the process and publicly track every published score prediction, ATS pick, and Over/Under selection. The comparison table separately shows the Covers projections’ marked ATS selections and Chris Gregory’s expert picks, each at its original published line.
Odds and market lines are correct at the time of publishing and are subject to change.
