Dalton Rosta questions Fabian Edwards’ black belt credentials as PFL feud reaches boiling point

Dalton Rosta has called his rival Fabian Edwards’ BJJ black belt credentials into question as the pair’s pre-fight trash talk continued to heat up.

The former Bellator stars have been on a collision course throughout this year’s PFL World Tournament, and will finally meet on August 21 at the Hard Rock Live in Hollywood, Florida. Both are known for getting under their opponents’ skin and they are getting deeply personal already in the lead-up.

Rosta was an amateur prodigy before heading into the pro ranks in Bellator’s middleweight division. He has lost just once, and was able to avenge that result when he defeated Aaron Jeffery in the tournament’s semi-final last month.

Dalton Rosta slams Fabian Edwards’ coaches from awarding him BJJ black belt

Dalton Rosta is one of the most notorious characters at 185lb on the PFL roster, and has previously been able to use his winding up of opponents pre-fight to help him in the cage. And this fight is no different, with he and Fabian Edwards going back-and-forth in their pre-fight face-off and then on social media.

And speaking with Bloody Elbow in an exclusive chat, Rosta shredded the Brit, insisting that he might have to not only defeat Edwards but also the coach who awarded him his BJJ black belt in June of 2023.

“He’s lost to plenty of wrestlers before and I heard him say to someone on the broadcast that he’s a jiu-jitsu black belt,” Rosta laughed. “Who the f— gave him his black belt, man? I will beat him and his coach in the same f—ing round.

“I’d submit both of them, this guy is not a black belt and we’re going to see… This is not a f—ing kickboxing match, I can fake the takedown, I can get takedowns, make him worried about it and put on pressure, there’s so much to factor in there.”

Dalton Rosta insists trash talk hasn’t affected him heading into PFL World Tournament finals

Both men are not necessarily known as trash talkers, but have a history of developing feuds with their opponents that go far beyond athletic rivalry. However, Rosta insists he is not letting the Brit wind him up despite an ugly pre-fight build.

“He’s not underneath my skin, I’m just having so much fun with it,” Rosta insisted. “It’s not personal for me but I don’t like him. It’s not personal for me, at the end of the day I want to show exactly how much better I am than this guy.

“I hope it goes five rounds, to be honest with you, and I get to beat the s— out of this guy for five rounds. I want to take this man’s heart from him, I want him to quit on me.”
