Turki Alalshikh snubs fighter ‘he wants on Canelo undercard’

Liverpool flyweight Mikie Tallon was name-checked by Saudi powerbroker Turki Alalshikh as one of the fighters he wanted to showcase on the blockbuster Canelo Álvarez vs Terence Crawford undercard.

Alalshikh took to social media, outlining that he wanted to see Tallon feature, stating, “I want to see this fighter on the undercard of Canelo vs Crawford,” about the unbeaten prospect.

But when organizers laid out the ten-fight card, Tallon’s name was missing. Alalshikh’s endorsement put Tallon on the radar for Las Vegas, but he never finalized the bout.

Instead, the official announcement listed ten fights without Tallon in the mix.

Fans were left asking whether the Liverpool man would get a late call-up, or whether it was just talk.

    Mikie Tallon’s busy 2025

Even without the Canelo slot, Tallon isn’t sitting still, and he isn’t injured. The 20-year-old has already fought three times in 2025:

He beat Stephen Jackson in February, then stopped Jemsi Kibazange in June and shut out Jake Pollard in July. Tallon has got two more scheduled before the year ends, with or without the Canelo appearance.

On October 4, Tallon fights at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre in Manchester. ‘The Omen’ will follow that up on December 6 at Greenbank Sports Academy in his hometown of Liverpool.

That’s five fights in a single year, regardless of whether Alalshikh delivers the Vegas showcase.

By 2026, if Tallon remains undefeated, Tallon will be on the cusp of titles and honors.

For now, Canelo vs Crawford remains the ten confirmed bouts.

    Canelo vs Crawford undercard

    Main Card (Netflix)

Canelo Alvarez vs. Terence Crawford – Undisputed Super Middleweight Title

Callum Walsh vs. Fernando Vargas Jr. – Light Middleweight

Christian Mbilli vs. Lester Martínez – Super Middleweight

Mohammed Alakel vs. John Ornelas – Lightweight

    Prelims (YouTube)

Serhii Bohachuk vs. Brandon Adams – Catchweight, 10 rounds

Ivan Dychko vs. Jermaine Franklin – Heavyweight, 10 rounds

Reito Tsutsumi vs. Javier Martinez – Super Featherweight, 6 rounds

Sultan Almohamed vs. Martin Caraballo – Light Welterweight, 4 rounds

Steven Nelson vs. Raiko Santana – Light Heavyweight, 10 rounds

Marco Verde vs. Marcos Osorio-Betancourt – Super Middleweight, 6 rounds

Alalshikh talked Tallon up. Vegas didn’t come through yet. But with momentum behind him, Tallon could still force his way onto a significant stage sooner rather than later.
