Tom Aspinall is widely regarded as a unique mould for a heavyweight and UFC legend Michael Bisping has compared him to one of the boxing greats.

On Saturday October 25, Tom Aspinall will make the first defense of his heavyweight title since being upgraded to the undisputed champion, when he takes on Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 in Abu Dhabi.

Ahead of his first fight since last July when he defended his interim title against Curtis Blaydes, Aspinall has welcomed a new coach into his camp to help him break down the puzzle Gane presents.

And with that, the British champion has shown off the threat he possesses in the Octagon, sharing a video of him punching a punching bag off its chains during a training session.

Bisping compares Aspinall to the legendary Muhammad Ali

Throughout his UFC career, Aspinall has always been widely regarded as a new breed of UFC heavyweight, possessing a very different fight style to most other heavyweights.

Similarly, ‘Bon Gamin’ is also regarded as a unique heavyweight because of his striking skillset and speed on the feet.

And ahead of their clash at UFC 321, UFC legend Michael Bisping has compared Aspinall to the legendary boxer, Muhammad Ali.

“Obviously I’ve always been a big (supporter of) Tom Aspinall, I’ve always said how great he is, I don’t need to repeat myself, I thought he would’ve beaten Jon Jones if I’m honest, not that that’s a disrespect to Jon Jones I think Jones is incredible,” Bisping said in an exclusive interview with Bloody Elbow.

“Ciryl Gane is an interesting one because out of all of the heavyweights, he’s probably the most athletic, he’s probably the only man that can match Tom in terms of movement, in fact, he’s probably more athletic and lighter on the feet than Aspinall.

“Tom’s gigantic as well, he’s big and light on his feet, he can move, I always say he’s like an MMA Muhammad Ali or a heavyweight Georges St-Pierre, he can grapple, he can do it all… I heavily, heavily lean towards Tom Aspinall in this fight,” Bisping continued.

Aspinall no longer interested in fighting Jones

After Jon Jones declared that he is going to make his UFC comeback on the upcoming White House event in July 2026, fans once again got excited for the prospect of Jones vs Aspinall.

Despite that, the undisputed heavyweight champion recently claimed that he is no longer interested in fighting Jones and is not interested in competing on the historic event at the White House
