Safety Amani Hooker and the Tennessee Titans have reached agreement on a three-year, $48.3 million extension, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports.

The Titans officially announced the signing on Saturday.

The $16.2 million in average annual salary puts Hooker among the top 10 highest-paid safeties in the NFL. The contract includes $29 million in guaranteed money. Hooker, 27, was in the final year of the three-year, $33 million extension he signed in 2022.

Going into his seventh NFL campaign, Hooker grabbed a career-high five interceptions last season, tied for the fourth-best total in the league. Additionally, he tallied two forced fumbles, 71 tackles, four tackles for loss, two quarterback hits and nine passes defensed in 14 games.

Hooker was the Titans’ 2019 fourth-round pick (No. 116 overall) out of Iowa. He is the top free safety on the Tennessee depth chart, which includes veterans Xavier Woods and Quandre Diggs along with rookie third-round pick Kevin Winston Jr.

This past week, Hooker was selected as one of seven captains by his teammates, along with quarterback Cam Ward, receiver Calvin Ridley, running back Tony Pollard, defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons, linebacker Cody Barton and long snapper Morgan Cox. He was named a captain for the first time in his career.

“This is a reflection of all the people that believed in me along the way,” Hooker said in a statement released by the Titans. “I want to thank Ms. Amy [team owner Amy Adams Strunk] for wanting me to be here, to Chad [Brinker, president of football operations], Mike [Borgonzi, general manager] and Coach [Brian Callahan] for supporting me and giving me the opportunity.

“Most importantly,” he added, “I want to thank my family and my teammates and those who’ve been in my corner since the beginning. I’m proud to be a Titan for many more years and look forward to building towards one goal.”

The Titans open the 2025-26 season with a Week 1 matchup versus the Denver Broncos.
