Tyree’s prediction: Sooners run away from Tigers.

SEC football is as competitive as ever, and an in-conference SEC slash is set to take place at Gaylord Family-Oklahoma Memorial Stadium this weekend. No. 22 Auburn is set to visit No. 11 Oklahoma on Saturday, and both teams are looking to improve to 4-0.
Oddsmakers expect this game to be decided by less than a touchdown, but my early Auburn vs Oklahoma predictions and college football picks focus on the likelihood of a different outcome.
Here’s how I’m approaching the game before kickoff at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, August 23.
Auburn vs Oklahoma predictions
Here are our early thoughts on the spread and total for this week’s game. We will have a full game preview (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
Early Auburn vs Oklahoma spread pick: Oklahoma -6.5

Oklahoma failed to cover in its first game against Illinois State, but covered in both of the games that followed the season opener. Auburn, on the other hand, has failed to cover in back-to-back contests.
This game will mark the first time that the Sooners enter a contest as a home favorite against an SEC opponent since they joined the conference in 2024. They have a clear opportunity to build up momentum against the Tigers after beating them as two-point road underdogs last season.
Auburn is in danger of falling into a hole early against a Sooners team that’s made a habit of getting off to strong starts in recent history. The home team has hit the first-quarter moneyline in six of its previous eight games and hit the first-half moneyline in seven of its previous 12 games. The Tigers won’t have an easy path back into this game if that trend continues.
Bettors should lean toward the hosts against the spread. They’ve already shut down a superior offense and can put points on the board more quickly thanks to their more potent aerial attack.
Early Auburn vs Oklahoma total pick: Under 48.5

The Sooners have looked extremely impressive on defense so far this season. It’s not surprising that they forked up a total of six points in their matchups against Temple and Illinois State, but limiting No. 21 Michigan to 13 points in Week 2 is worth acknowledging.
Byrce Underwood was rendered useless through the air against Oklahoma, and opposing starting quarterbacks have completed less than 46% of their passes against the Sooners this season. That eye-opening stat is worth noting, as a one-dimensional Auburn team isn’t likely to put up too many points if that trend continues, especially given that Jackson Arnold is averaging less than 170 passing yards per game.
Oklahoma has hit the Game Total Under in five of its last seven home games. I expect the hosts to remain dominant at their home stadium.
