Liverpool are keeping tabs on this Real Madrid midfielder

In a recent interview, journalist Graeme Bailey claimed that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga. Bailey said,

“Camavinga is a top performer and still only 22. Real Madrid love him, but within the Bernabeu, they know they can’t keep a player who isn’t playing – especially when he has other top clubs who would readily take him.

“He is one to keep an eye on. There are a few big names under Xabi Alonso that could very well be on the move in 2026.

“Liverpool are not the only club keeping an eye on Camavinga, but there would be few better landing spots.”

Camavinga’s Impressive Form In French Football

Camavinga managed to catch the eye at times for the Madrid giants in the previous campaign when he served as a useful presence in their squad. The France international was involved in 35 matches for Los Blancos last season, scoring two goals and earning two assists in multiple competitions.

The 22-year-old offered decent protection for his teammates at the back as he made 42 tackles, 24 blocks, 18 interceptions and 23 clearances in La Liga. He was even accurate when distributing possession from midfield after completing 94.7% of his attempted passes in the Spanish top flight (stats via fbref.com).

Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Get Camavinga On Board?

Camavinga is a tough-tackling midfielder who can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his team inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing his lines when the opposition are on the offensive and is a tidy passer of the ball as well.

However, the French sensation has to find a way to add more goals and assists to his game. Plus, there are some concerns over whether he can cope with the high intensity of the Premier League if the Reds manage to acquire his services next year.

We can expect Camavinga to inject more bite and steel into Liverpool head coach Arne Slot’s midfield. He is good enough to challenge for a regular first-team place at the Merseyside club in the future.

At 22, the best is yet to come from Camavinga. However, he has got the potential to be a world-class player in his position someday. Thus, Slot should focus on getting him on board this January or next summer.
