Ahead of Tuesday’s finale, Season 9 had resulted in 41 contracts being awarded, putting the record for most contracts earned in a single season in reach, which was impressive to consider given that only two athletes earned contracts in Week 1. But business was booming since then, with 30 finishes and 39 graduates earning their place on the UFC roster, and this evening in Las Vegas, things wrapped up with a history-making bang.
Five of the six fights ended inside the distance, including the first Suloev stretch submission and initial spinning back elbow knockout in Dana White’s Contender Series history. Thrilled with the performances throughout the evening, the UFC President was generous with his praise.
