San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy and tight end George Kittle will both return to practice on Wednesday after lengthy injury absences, coach Kyle Shanahan said, although it remains unclear when they will be ready to play.

Both players’ statuses for Sunday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons remain uncertain. Purdy has not practiced since aggravating his toe injury in Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has played in just two games this season, with backup Mac Jones going 3-1 in his place despite battling injuries of his own.

Jones will remain limited in practice Wednesday with oblique and left knee injuries, but for now, he appears more likely to start against Atlanta.

“Brock’s more limited than Mac,” Shanahan said.

Kittle has been on injured reserve since injuring his hamstring in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks.

Meanwhile, wide receiver Ricky Pearsall remains out of practice with a knee injury, and Jauan Jennings remains limited with ankle and rib injuries. Pearsall was leading the team in receiving yards with 327 before injuring his knee against the Jaguars. Jennings has missed two games this season while fighting through a variety of injuries. He said after Sunday’s loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that he has five broken ribs.

Shanahan said linebacker Fred Warner’s surgery to repair his dislocated and broken ankle on Tuesday “went great,” but he did not offer a timeline for Warner’s potential return. “We’re not thinking about that right now,” the coach said.
