Glover Teixeira dislikes one thing about the new UFC middleweight champion.
Khamzat Chimaev completed his ascent to the top on MMA’s biggest stage this past August, when he unseated Dricus du Plessis from the throne at 185 pounds with ease.
In the main event of UFC 319, Chimaev dominated Du Plessis for five rounds en route to having the middleweight gold wrapped around his waist.
That visual had long been predicted by those who have worked with the undefeated Chechen star behind the scenes, with tales of his unrivaled superiority over teammates spreading throughout the community.
But Chimaev’s alleged approach to training has concerned one UFC legend, who also happens to be the coach of a fighter ‘Borz’ is targeting.

Glover Teixeira alleges that Khamzat Chimaev beats up on lesser fighters in training
Teixeira has successfully transitioned from fighter to coach following his reign as light heavyweight king. The Brazilian great has most notably played a major role in the incredible UFC career of Alex Pereira.
As talk of Chimaev and ‘Poatan’ fighting down the line continues to circulate, Teixeira gave his take on the middleweight champ during the UFC Glory Days podcast.
The retired legend had mostly good things to say about ‘Borz’, but he did bring up one claim that worries him.
“He’s great, he’s great. I like the way he talks and he backs it up. He comes back and shows. He’s an amazing fighter,” Teixeira said.
“If I have to say one thing that I don’t like about Chimaev is like, I see him sometimes spar with guys — he beats the s— out of people, you know, that are not on his level.
“But he’s an amazing fighter, and he’s good on the microphone too,” he added.

Alex Pereira shut down Khamzat Chimaev’s callout
‘Poatan’ has made it clear what he wants after his return to the light heavyweight throne at UFC 320. Pereira wants a heavyweight superfight against Jon Jones, and that desire led him to dismiss another option.
Post-fight in Las Vegas, Pereira was also responding to a callout from Chimaev, who staked his claim for a shot at two-division glory up at 205 pounds.
The Brazilian star, however, respectfully declined.
“Thanks for congratulating me but all I want is a superfight,” Pereira said at his press conference.
“I wanna fight at heavyweight but all I can say is thank you,” he added.
