Week 15 closes out with an AFC showdown featuring the Miami Dolphins (6-7) visiting the Pittsburgh Steelers (7-6) as both teams battle for playoff positions. The Dolphins are hanging onto their postseason aspirations by a thread, while the Steelers reclaimed sole possession of the AFC North lead last week and look to hold onto that edge with a win on Monday.
After winning just two of their first nine games this season, the Dolphins have rallied to save the season and potentially head coach Mike McDaniel’s job. Miami beat down the New York Jets last week, 34-10, in a game the Dolphins won on the ground and played stellar defense, forcing three turnovers.

Pittsburgh regained control of first place in the AFC North last week after defeating Baltimore 27-22, but they’ll need a win tonight to maintain it. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers played an efficient game, completing over 67% of his passes for 284 yards and a touchdown, connecting with D.K. Metcalf for seven receptions and 148 yards — his best game yet in black and gold. Despite giving up 420 yards of total offense to the Ravens, the Steelers were able to come away with a huge victory. They’ll need to clean that up in Week 15 against a Dolphins team that has been hot, winning four in a row and also needing a win to stay in the postseason hunt.

Not much cooking on Pittsburgh’s first possession. The Steelers gained 9 yards and punted after a 3-and-out. The Dolphins will start their second possession near their own 30-yard line looking to crack the scoreboard first.

Miami gained a first down on a play-action pass on their first play. But they didn’t gain another and have punted from midfield. The Steelers will start with the ball at the 20 after a touchback.

The Dolphins won the coin toss and elected to receive. They’ll start with the ball after a kickoff return to the 27-yard line.

It’s a bitter cold night in Pittsburgh at 17 degrees with a wind chill of 10. The Allegheny River outside of Acrisure Stadium is covered in ice.
This would appear to benefit the Steelers against a visiting Dolphins team that traditionally doesn’t fare well in the cold. Will that play out tonight as the Steelers look to maintain their advantage in the AFC North?
With a win, the 7-6 Steelers could gain a full game in the standings over a 7-7 Ravens that they beat last week. The 6-7 Dolphins, meanwhile, remain technically alive in the AFC playoff race. But they need to win out and have multiple teams ahead of them in the wild-card standings collapse for their long shot to come through.

There’s just one game left in Week 15, as the Pittsburgh Steelers prepare to host the Miami Dolphins on “Monday Night Football” to close out the week. Luckily for Pittsburgh, they’ll have their starting running back available.
Starter Jaylen Warren was added to the injury report Monday morning and downgraded to “questionable” after waking up with an illness, the team announced.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that Warren would receive fluids and was optimistic he’d play, and now, he’s officially active for the primetime contest. Warren’s averaging a career-best 77.4 scrimmage yards per game in his first year as the team’s full-time starter following the departure of Najee Harris in the offseason.
Should he be limited in any capacity, Kenneth Gainwell should see an increase in work, quietly having a career year with the black and gold as a complement to Warren.
Through 13 games, Gainwell has posted a career-high 657 scrimmage yards while matching his previous career high in touchdowns (6) that he set as a rookie back in 2021.

Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief; Dolphins running back De’Von Achane is available in Week 15 after suffering a rib injury in last week’s win over the Jets.
Head coach Mike McDaniel said after the game that Achane could have returned in an emergency, but opted to hold him out after the injury, erring on the side of caution.
Achane enters Week 15 with a career-best 1,509 scrimmage yards and 11 total touchdowns, currently ranked as the overall RB4 in Yahoo Fantasy leagues. He ranks third in the league with 1,126 rushing yards while sitting fourth among RBs with 383 receiving yards.
Behind him on the Dolphins’ depth chart are Jaylen Wright and rookie Ollie Gordon III, who have combined for 363 rushing yards and four touchdowns on 100 carries.

Looking to get in a wager on tonight’s matchup between the Steelers and Dolphins? Here are two player props to consider for MNF:
QB Tua Tagovailoa under 28.5 pass attempts (-125)
You can do the math on what 85 pass attempts averages out to over the four games where the Dolphins have focused more on the run game, but we’ll make it easy on you: The most throws Tagovailoa has attempted is 23. Given the potential mismatch between the Dolphins’ run game and the Steelers’ run defense, it’s going to take a series of special outlier events for Pittsburgh to take Mike McDaniel out of his game plan for his quarterback.
WR Adam Thielen over 1.5 receptions (+110)
If you weren’t on top of the real-life waiver wire last week, it might still be news to you that Thielen is even on the Steelers, but the veteran was picked up and immediately inserted into the Pittsburgh lineup, playing the second-most snaps of any of their wide receivers.
Thielen caught only one ball on one target, for all of four yards, but he played that much because he knows where to go (an apparent issue for the Steelers’ pass-catchers). After another week to practice with Rodgers, let’s bet that a career of being sure-handed earns Thielen a couple looks that a long-time possession receiver can haul in.
Read more in tonight’s MNF betting preview, including a pick against the spread and anytime TD wagers to consider.

Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt underwent surgery to stabilize and repair a partially collapsed lung this week, according to his brother J.J. Watt. Watt was then ruled out for Monday night’s game against the Miami Dolphins.
T.J. was undergoing a dry needling treatment session at the team’s practice facility on Wednesday when he began to feel discomfort and was sent to a local hospital for testing. According to J.J., there is no timeline for recovery at the moment, but T.J. was set to be released from the hospital on Friday.
Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said he spoke with Watt on Wednesday evening, and said the pass rusher was “comfortable.” Tomlin added that Watt was not dealing with an injury coming out of Week 14’s game and that was he was unaware when or how Watt’s symptoms started.
Watt, 31, has appeared in all 13 of the Steelers’ games this season. He’s registered 53 tackles and seven sacks in those contests.
