SAN FRANCISCO — Dell and Steph Curry have played more games than any other father-son duo in NBA history. The dynamic shooting duo set a record when Steph started Saturday night’s 123-114 win over the Utah Jazz — which marked the 2,135th game the father and son have played in the NBA, passing Hall of Famer Dolph Schayes and his son, Danny, who totaled 2,134 games.
The Currys have become synonymous with high-level shooting through several decades after Dell played 16 NBA seasons and became one of the most respected long-range shooters of his era. Steph followed in Dell’s footsteps by becoming the best 3-point shooter of all time, making more 3s than any player in the history of the game.
What makes the Curry family even more special than their peers is that Dell’s youngest son, Seth, has played 12 NBA seasons and has carved out his own niche as a long-range shooter. Seth Curry has appeared in 522 games and is a career 43.3 percent shooter from the outside, according to basketballreference.com. He entered Saturday with 947 career made 3s, meaning he’s closing in on becoming the third Curry to make at least 1,000 3s over their NBA career.
When Dell retired after the 2001-02 season, his 1,245 career 3s ranked 10th in NBA history. Steph, who entered Saturday with 4,177 made 3s over his 17-year career, now has roughly 1,000 more 3s than second-place James Harden.
Steph celebrated the accomplishment in style on Saturday night scoring 20 points in the third quarter. That is the third time this season he has scored at least 20 points in a quarter. It is 45th time in his illustrious career he has scored at least 20 points in a quarter, the most such periods by any NBA player since he entered the league in 2009.

Steph and Dell shared some time in Charlotte when the Warriors beat the Hornets on Wednesday afternoon. Dell, who played 10 seasons with the Hornets, is a broadcaster for the organization.
Steph was reflective after the game while describing how much this particular record meant to him.
“It’s cool,” he said. “Just longevity and the family business being in this game. You add my brother’s points it’s even better, so pretty special for the Curry family as a whole. Knowing that (Dell) played for 16 years, I’m in my 17th year still trying to do it. A dream come true to be honest.”
