Dana White’s critical comments about one individual were proven true on multiple occasions.

The UFC president has had his fair share of rivals that he hasn’t been afraid to go back and forth with over the years.

It looks like Eddie Hearn is the newest person to butt heads with White now that the two promoters will be competing against each another in the boxing world.

Of course, not every fighter on the roster sees eye to eye with the UFC boss either, with White’s relationship with Tito Ortiz being well documented.

However, there is one other person who often found himself on the receiving end of scathing comments, as was the case at UFC 104 in 2009.

Ben Rothwell’s stoppage loss to Cain Velasquez came early due to Steve Mazzagatti

BKFC heavyweight champion Ben Rothwell is set to face Andrei Arlovski in his next title defense at Knucklemania VI on February 7.

The two UFC veterans have both accumulated a level of experience in their careers that is hard to match and have faced off on two previous occasions in MMA.

While ‘Big’ Ben first stepped inside the Octagon at UFC 104, by that time, he already had a pro record of 30-6, which helped earn him a massive matchup against Cain Velasquez.

    Ask Ben Rothwell anything.

Leave your questions in the comments and we'll put the best ones to Ben Rothwelll ahead of BKFC KnuckleMania VI.

Velasquez was seemingly moments away from stopping Rothwell one minute into the second round thanks to his trademark relentless output.

Despite this, referee Steve Mazzagatti’s decision to wave the fight off while the American was getting back to his feet instantly resulted in him protesting the call.

Dana White, who was critical of Mazzagatti’s officiating more times than anyone can remember, including an iconic nine-minute rant after UFC 161, unsurprisingly agreed that the referee messed up.

A post on MMA Junkie’s forums even claims that the UFC president’s video blog from the event showed him speaking to both Velasquez and Rothwell after the fight about how bad Mazzagatti is.

Dana White has used Steve Mazzagatti’s name as a criticism in the past

Dana White was so critical of Steve Mazzagatti’s work as a referee that he’s even used the official’s name as a way to highlight mistakes that other people make.

In 2020, referee Chris Tognoni incorrectly believed that light heavyweight fighter Mike Rodriguez had landed a low blow in his fight with Ed Herman.

When the replays showed that it was a clean knee to the body that did the damage, White referenced his rant target once again.

“It’s hard not to bang on this guy. The worst I’ve ever seen,” White told the media. “That’s some Mazzagatti-level s— right there. That was one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.”
