UFC welterweight contender Daniel Rodriguez has leaked the details around the plans for his next fight.
Rodriguez, 39, is the No. 14-ranked contender in the UFC welterweight division. He is riding three straight wins, having recently beaten Alex Morono, Santiago Ponzinibbio, and Kevin Holland. Despite that streak, his momentum has somewhat stalled, as he just spent eight months in a Mexican prison for trying to get cannabis over the border.
From the sounds of it, he’ll soon have a big opportunity to get back on track.
Daniel Rodriguez vs. Leon Edwards in the works for UFC 329
Speaking to TMZ Sports, Rodriguez revealed the UFC has offered him a fight with former champ Leon Edwards. The bout is being targeted for UFC 329, which will cap off the promotion’s annual International Fight Week bonanza on July 11.

“I got an amazing offer,” he said. “You guys will probably see me in there with Leon Edwards, International Fight Week.
“Just today [UFC made the offer], made the decision right now. I’m accepting the offer.”
While Rodriguez says he has accepted the offer, it’s unclear if Edwards has.
If Edwards does accept, he will be one of the toughest tests of Rodriguez’s career. The Brit claimed the welterweight title with a stunning knockout of Kamaru Usman in 2022. He then defended the belt in a rematch with Usman, and against Colby Covington. However, he lost the title to Belal Muhammad in 2024, and has since been submitted by Sean Brady and knocked out by Carlos Prates. It is the worst streak of his career, making his next fight make-or-break.
