Masvidal and Chael Sonnen
are involved in an unexpected beef.
Sonnen (31-17) recently accused Masvidal (35-17) of promoting a
false narrative about a potential return to the
UFC. Masvidal responded by mocking Sonnen for his history of
PED use. Masvidal says Sonnen’s greatest achievement is nearly
ending Anderson
Silva’s spectacular title run at UFC 117 in 2010 before getting
submitted by “The Spider” in the last round. Masvidal also notes
that Sonnen was caught using PEDs for the fight against Silva.
While Sonnen has failed drug tests three times in his career,
Masvidal proudly boasts his clean record.
A Clean History
“This motherf—-er has some nerve,” Masvidal said on the “Death Row MMA” podcast . “He’s transitioning into a
woman; he’s talking s—t to me… Now that he’s a lesbian, he thinks I
can’t slap him. I’ll still slap the f—k out of you, Chael… I can’t
take this guy seriously. The greatest thing he did was fight
Anderson
Silva, still lose and get tapped. And he was on seven different
PEDs. Dude, you can never talk to me. I’ve never had a f—-ing
positive exam for steroids in my life.”
Masvidal retired from the UFC on a four-fight slump, following a
loss against Gilbert
Burns in 2023. Masvidal belongs to a long list of fighters,
both retired and active, who threw their names in the mix as soon
as the plan for the
UFC White House card was announced. However, the former UFC BMF
champion never went beyond casually teasing a return to the
UFC. Masvidal further challenged Sonnen to a bare-knuckle MMA
fight in his own promotion, Gamebred.
“Chael, I’ve got a proposition for you,” Masvidal said. “I’m going
to beat the f—-ing living brakes off you. I’ll pay you to come over
to my promotion, bare-knuckle MMA. I’ll go up to heavyweight and
beat the f—-ing lesbian out of you.”
